Entity offers advice to boost your motivation to succeed.

Breaking a habit of laziness and procrastination is not easy, but if you feel like you’re wasting your potential but you just can’t get motivated, there are steps you can take to increase your productivity.

It’s noon on Sunday. You have an report due at Monday morning, your dirty laundry is piling up and your need to clean up around the house before your family arrives for dinner. So what do you do? Stay in bed.

Sound familiar? If this is you, you’re probably a lazy person. But you don’t have to stay that way. Follow these six tips to become a driven individual.

1 Figure out why you re being lazy in the first place.

Maybe you have been spending every weeknight working, then when the weekend comes, you feel burned out and don’t want to finish that report or essay. 2 Change your environment.

Laying in bed and attempting to finish an assignment might not be effective. Try going to the library, the park or even just in your backyard. Switching up the environment can give you a boost of energy and make you more motivated to finish your work.

3 Make a schedule.

Scheduling makes you aware of when you have to do things and the amount of time you have before a deadline. If you make a to-do list on your phone or in a cute planner, it’s harder to forget any obligations. If you plan accordingly, you can set specific times to be lazy and specific times to get work done.

4 Turn off your phone.

Shut off your phone, your TV or any other distraction. Don’t open the YouTube app if you know that you won’t be able to stop watching videos until you’re caught up with all your subscriptions. These distractions are temporary roadblocks that can be easily removed. “To interrupt the cycle, make it harder to go about your usual routine,” says Lifehacker. “Even if it’s just a little inconvenience, disrupting your usual triggers can create a break in your muscle memory and kickstart a new habit.”

5 Ask for help.

It’s okay to ask someone else to encourage you to get things done or help you. You will be more motivated if you have someone alongside you pushing you to do your best.

Once you’ve completed it, you will feel much better about yourself. This increase in self-esteem can start you on a cycle of motivation.

Use these tips to break that lazy spell of yours. It’s time to stop having a “lazy day” every day of the week and get things done.
