Berta Cacares has been awarded the Shalom Award by the Society for Justice and Peace in 2012. Later, she became nominated as a finalist for the Front Line Defender Prize and awarded the Goldman Environmental Prize.

Her quote signifies strength. Sadly, it also reveals that she lived in fear. Although she never gave up and she continued fighting for human rights and the environment. And her refusal to quit makes her a heroine and a successful activist, in spite of her death. Entity recognizes and praises the brave life she led. Caceres, left a remarkable impact, although her life ended tragically. We continue remembering and honoring her work and all justice she brought into the world. May she rest in peace, and may we not give up the fight for basic human rights.
