At Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry imagined by Harry Potter creator, J.K. Rowling, there’s one thing that’s very clear: It’s hard to be a Hufflepuff. Upon arriving as a new student at Hogwarts, children are sorted into one of four houses that suit them best. For Harry and his closest friends, it was the Gryffindor house — which values bravery and courage equally to intelligence quick-wittedness — that landed these heroes. The exceedingly bookish types with a penchant for learning typically end up in the Ravenclaw house. The Slytherin house is notoriously reserved for those with a cunning temperament and insatiable ambition. So what are the strengths of the Hufflepuff house? Patience, fairness and a strong work ethic. Hufflepuffs are the “nice guys;” well-meaning, but not particularly enviable or exciting.

Eddie Redmayne, star of the new Harry Potter spinoff, “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” is a Hufflepuff through-and-through. In a new teaser, Redmayne defends the integrity and of Hufflepuffs while making us laugh at the same time. “For far too long now, Hufflepuffs have been victimized. They call us boring; the call us beige,” Redmayne says.

He proudly boasts of the “loyalty” and “fierce friendship” unique to Hufflepuffs before adding in another great reason that we should all strive to be Hufflepuffs: “Hufflepuffs are J.K. Rowling’s favorite house.”
