ENTITY reports on where Embeth Davidtz is now

Remember Miss Honey in “Matilda?”

Well, Matilda’s generous teacher who protected her from bullies, Ms. Trunchbull’s cruel disciplinary methods and Matilda’s own family is named Embeth Davidtz. She had such a sweet spot for Matilda that by the end of the movie she had adopted Matilda to keep her safe from her brutal family.

I remember thinking how awesome it would be to have the beautiful and intelligent Miss Honey as a teacher. She cared for her students and went against Ms. Trunchbull to keep the kids safe. But what really happened to our oh-so-favorite Miss Honey?

ENTITY explores the interesting details that make up the life of Embeth Davidtz.

1 Her entertainment career

After Matilda, Davidtz starred in many successful films and TV shows including the roles of Natasha in “Bridget Jones Diary,” Annika in “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” and Mary Parker in “The Amazing Spider-Man” movies.

She has also appeared on “Scrubs,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Mad Men” and a list of other TV shows. She even played a role in a video game (Agent).

2 She’s a real-life mom-of-two.

ENTITY shares the life of Embeth Davidtz.

Davidtz’s character Miss Honey may have adopted Matilda at the end of the film, but in real-life she’s a mother-of-two. In 2002, she married an entertainment attorney named Jason Sloane and together they share two beautiful children.

Her oldest is Charlotte Emily, born in 2002 and three years later the couple welcomed Asher Dylan Sloane into their lives.

3 She’s a Breast Cancer survivor.

In an interview with Vulture she revealed she had been diagnosed with breast cancer and had to undergo a mastectomy. She bravely revealed the scar on her breast during an episode of “Ray Donovan.”

This act spoke volumes for people all over the world who have suffered or are suffering from breast cancer. She later referred to the visible signs of her mastectomy as “a battle scar,” according to Vulture.

As if nude scenes aren’t nerve-wracking enough? Embeth Davidtz boldly chooses to embrace her God-given body and show off her battle scars. If that’s not empowerment, then I don’t know what is.

The 51-year-old has been through a lot, but clearly it has not kept her from shining on our television screens.

4 She’s low-key.

Davidtz is definitely a low-key type of gal as she doesn’t have an active Facebook fan page or a Twitter account. And it might be hard to track her down on Instagram, since she keeps the account settings on private. Whatever floats her boat is fine with us.

5 She has a Net Worth of $5 million.

Embeth was born in Indiana and graduated from Rhodes University. Most of her early life was set in South Africa where her parents are from. She made her first professional debut at 21 years old, playing Juliet in “Romeo and Juliet.” She moved to Los Angeles in 1991 and landed a role in “Army of Darkness.”

The woman who once played a soft-spoken and sweet-as-sugar school teacher has proven to herself and to Hollywood that she is a strong, capable and intelligent woman. We are excited to hopefully see her on the big screen some time soon.
