ENTITY reports on Finnick Odair.Twitter via @dailyclaflin

Finnick Odair is a fictional character in “The Hunger Games,” who was chosen to become the male tribute for District 4. He rose to the top and won the 65th Hunger Games at age of fourteen. Pretty impressive, right?

When Finnick came out in “Hunger Games: Catching Fire” and “Hunger Games: Mockingjay,” he quickly became a fan-favorite, leaving many crushed after his death in “Mockingjay.”

And though the typical favorite “Hunger Games” guy is Peeta Mellark or Gale Hawthorne, here are some reasons your heart should belong to Finnick Odair.

1 He absolutely loves Annie.

Both Finnick Odair and Annie are victors of “The Hunger Games.” Finnick won the 65th games and Annie won the 70th. But during the games, Annie went crazy after she witnessed  her district partner get beheaded.

Annie was seen as mentally unstable after her traumatic experience in the gamesm, but the only thing that seemed to keep her sane was Finnick. He cared for her very much and always made sure she was safe. Finnick was very protective over Annie and made sure nothing would affect her. No matter what was going on in Finnick’s life (even the war that was going on around him), he knew Annie was the love of his life.

And lets not forget the speech made did for Annie. That was a definite tear-jerker. “My love, you have my heart for all eternity and, if… if I die in that arena, my last thought will be of your lips,” he said.

Cue all the ugly crying.

2 He’s kind-hearted.

Finnick wasn’t just caring for Annie; he was kind-hearted to anyone that needed help. For example, when Peeta stopped breathing, Finnick didn’t hesitate to give him mouth-to-mouth. He was also always there when Katniss needed someone to talk to, and he always looked out for Katniss’ best interests. She was his ally but, most importantly, she was his friend.

Not to mention, sometimes he was also her advisor. Let’s not forget the speech that made Katniss realize her feelings for Peeta. “I knew I misjudged you – that you do love him,” he said. “I’m not stating in which way. Maybe you don’t know yourself. But anyone paying attention could see how much you care about him.”

3 He’s Handsome.

This isn’t his best attribute, but you have to admit that Finnick Odair is very easy to look at. His beautiful green eyes, dirty blonde hair and his amazing physique make so many girls swoon.

It’s hard not to fall in love with him from the moment he appears on your screen.

“Do you want a sugar cube?” Yes. Our answer to that is yes.

4 He’s Strong.

Yes, he’s very muscular, but that’s not what we mean.

Finnick struggled with PTSD, and who could blame him? He was thrown into those games at a very young age. “I drag myself out of nightmares each morning and find there’s no relief in waking,” he said.

But no matter how debilitating his PTSD got, Finnick didn’t let his mental illness get in the way of his life. He fought through it and he even helped care for Annie.

5 He has a sense of humor.

Finnick used his sense of humor to get through life – something any woman can appreciate in a partner. He made small jokes to other victors to brighten up the mood they were in. When Finnick saw his wanted poster on the screens all he did was laugh.

Even after everything he’s been through, Finnick is the kind of person who will laugh his way through the pain.

After his death in “Mockingjay: Part 2,” it left quite the heartache to all the Finnick Odair lovers. He was one of the characters that deserved a happy ending. But even after passing, Finnick will continue to be in our hearts and his character will forever be missed.
