Here's why Entity loves Tessa Thompson.

You probably know Tessa Thompson, but haven’t had time to search for her on Google. You most likely have a bunch of catching up to do. Good news! There’s no need to stalk her on social media: We’ve already done that for you. Here are some fun facts about the musician and actress who stole our hearts.

1 She got her start on “Veronica Mars.”

Starting out as a theatre actress, Tessa landed her big break in 2005 as Jackie Cook on “Veronica Mars.” In 2013, she snagged the starring role in BBC America’s “Copper.”

2 She Slayed the role of Nyla in “For Colored Girls.”

In this emotionally jarring drama, Thompson plays a talented dancer fresh out of high school who is devastated when she gets pregnant.

Thompson told EssenceI think Nyla just felt very close to me, I have a little sister that age. Because of her and wanting to protect, and my relationship with her, which is quite close, I feel really close to what those feelings are and dealing with them … I think that’s what is so endearing about watching a young person navigate all the various struggles that life presents you.”

3 She collaborated with artists to produce music for “Creed.”

Tessa said that she put in some serious work for “Creed”’s musical score – two weeks straight, 15 hours a day. Talk about grinding!

She told The Hollywood Reporter, “[Composer] Ludwig Goransson and I also had some guest artists come in. We had Donald Glover and an indie artist I really love called Moses Sumney. Other than that, it was basically just us hanging out. We had made 10 songs that we sent to Ryan, and there were four that he felt strongly about that would work in the context of the movie.”

4 She was naked AF under the covers in one of the love scenes in “Creed.”

As an actress, nudity is NBD for Thompson. In one of the love scenes for sports drama “Creed,” Thompson revealed to Hello Beautiful, “We are in fact naked under those covers. We wanted to talk about what Black love looks like and shoot it in a way that looks honest.”

5 She enjoys roles that send a message about American issues.

Tessa played the role of Diane Nash, the ambitious student who organized and fought several (non-violent) battles in the Civil Rights movement, in 2014 film “Selma.” She admitted to not knowing much about Diane Nash before taking the role, but after extensive research, she came to feel grateful for playing the role.

She told Refinery 29, “I feel a great sense of gratitude for being able to work on projects that I think have something to say and to offer to us now. I never even thought of the idea of legacy, but regardless of what we do, we’re here and we leave our mark on the world around us.”

5 She’s #squadgoals.

Thompson’s Instagram is a must-follow, filled with goofy, flawless pics of gal pals like Janelle Monae, Jaime King, Emmy Rossum and Thandie Newton.
