Season 3 of CBS’s “Zoo” begins with a huge development from the world we saw in “Zoo” season 2 episodes: Hybrid Territory. Now there is an entire different community in this post apocalyptic world.

It wouldn’t be a bad idea to brush up on this territory since a large part of next season will revolve around it. “Zoo” has enough twists and turns in the plot to confuse us. Why make season 3 harder to follow? We don’t know much of the information ourselves, but we do know 3 major things introduced in previews and actor interviews.

1 Hybrids and People Cohabitate the Area.

Yes, you read that right. This new section of the United States has people and hybrids in the same areas. The Hybrid Territory is separated from the regular cities by a large wall. Presumably with the help of Abigail Westbrook, either the hybrids have made their way from Pangaea in Hybrid Territory or she created more hybrids to run amok in the new region.

If you haven’t read our article on Abigail Westbrook, she is the new villain of season 3. Similar to many of villains in the past, she makes everyone else’s lives worse without a care for the repercussions. Dissimilar from the villains in the past, she does these things because it makes her happy. She’s very mentally ill and unstable. Her desire to make more hybrids and unleash them on people made this pretty apparent. However, her different motivations will make her harder to take down and sway.

With Radon Global, their motivation was money. So they could be blackmailed with exposure to change. With the military, their motivation sparked from the safety of human life. They wanted to simply repopulate later. This made rational conversation and plans to derail their mission by blowing up the healthy animal genes a viable plan. However, Abigail made this location for a reason.

She wants the people to be destroyed and she enjoys the pain and strife she’s caused. As you can imagine, Hybrid Territory looks like “Resident Evil’s” Racoon City.

2 It was Created by the Government.

Another important tidbit to know is that Abigail wasn’t the only person to damn the residents in Hybrid Territory. Somebody had to build the wall, right? And apparently, they couldn’t wait for the people to make it across the wall first. The government basically split the country into the Haves and the Have Nots. If they deemed your area too suspicious or not worthy enough to protect as they were building this wall — you were left to the hybrid wolves.

Not that this should be surprising to people. The government showed just how cut-throat they were last season with the Noah Objective. If survival of man means lose the few to save the many, then they’re willing to do whatever it takes. The sad thing is that we don’t know if it was the few vs the many, or if they simply saved the profitable doctors and scientists over the mechanics and waitresses.

“Zoo” didn’t give much information regarding how these distinctions were made. However, the fact remains there are many people who seem to be ignored by their government in the wild where they sleep next to rabid, mutated animals.

3 Jackson Has Spent the Last 10 Years There.

Good thing the United States has someone like Jackson. The transfusion he got from his father and the cure that he synthesized had certain affects on him that make him… different. Apparently now, he is faster, stronger and has keener senses. Apparently he isn’t some superhero who can lift cars, but his amped-up abilities do come in handy for his new profession: family extraction.

Jackson already had keen intuition when it came to animals as he grew up in the wild part of Africa. He’s never been a stranger to helping people navigate their way around wild animals. However, now that his body’s abilities have heightened, so has his job. He’s taken it upon himself to go and save other people and protect them as they travel across Hybrid Territory to the safe side of the U.S.

What do you think about this new area? From the details we’ve gotten, it looks like this part of the U.S. will be where the Scooby gang spend most of their time when they get back together. The best place for Abigail to hide Mitch would be in a place that is surrounded by the Hybrid monsters she’s created.
