ENTITY reports on JK Rowling creating touching tribute to pulse nightclub victims.

J.K. Rowling has teamed up with DC Comics illustrator Jim Lee for a touching comic anthology dedicated to the Pulse nightclub victims.

“Love is Love” is a 144-page anthology filled with original contributions from authors, illustrators and entertainers organized by comic writer Marc Andreyko.

To serve as her contribution, The “Harry Potter” writer authorized Lee to create an illustration of Harry, Ron, Hermione and Albus Dumbledore with one of Dumbledore’s famous quotes from “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” about tolerance and love.

Although the book has not yet released, Rowling fans are already praising the author and Lee for creating a “beautiful piece of art” that reads: “Differences of habit and language are nothing at all if our aims are identical and our hearts are open.”

Check out @georgegustines lovely article in the @nytimes in which my “Love is love” contribution is revealed. This first of a kind illustration was done with #jkrowling’s blessing, inspired by her quote: “Differences of habit and language are nothing at all if our aims are identical and our hearts are open.” –The Goblet of Fire #harrypotter #Loveislove is an amazing anthology and collaboration among so many of comicdom’s finest talents with all proceeds going to the victims, survivors, and their families of the Orlando shooting tragedy via EQUALITY FLORIDA. According to Andreyko, he felt the need to help the families directly affected by the June 12 tragedy in Orlando, Florida. So he took to Facebook to ask if anyone was interested in doing a benefit anthology comic book to raise money for the LGBTQ community.

Aside from Rowling and Lee, Andreyko received multiple other responses. Comedians Patton Oswalt and Taran Killam, Marvel writer Michael Bendis and actor Matt Bomer were just a few of the other contributors.

“It was therapeutic,” Andreyko said when talking about the comic. “By doing the art, it was purging for us.”

“Love is Love” (priced at $9.99) is available for pre-order and all proceeds from the book will be donated to Equality Florida, which has set up a fund to benefit the Pulse victims, survivors and their families.

Meanwhile, this push for diversity and LGBTQ visibility is also evident in other parts of the entertainment world.

National Geographic has featured a nine-year-old transgender girl on the cover of its January 2017 issue, which explores how gender impacts young children and their communities.

Also, the Indie-pop duo Tegan and Sara recently launched the Tegan and Sara Foundation, which is dedicated to fighting “for economic justice, health and representation for LGBTQ girls and women.”

In a letter announcing the launch of the foundation, the Quin sisters wrote, “Our fans not only support us, but each other as well. We see hope and strength in our community, whether through every day acts of kindness or through the power of mobilizing behind a common cause. Therefore, it is with deep gratitude and pride that we commit ourselves further to the fight for justice, equality and progress.”

These efforts to increase LGBTQ visibility will help communities be, as Tegan and Sara write, “proactive with our support rather than wait to react to discrimination as it occurs.”
