Entity reports on JK Rowling's move to the small screen with a new show on HBO.

If you thought J.K. Rowling would be slowing down after the “Harry Potter” series, think again. The bestselling author is about to add another on-screen adaptation to her repertoire. From wizards to fantastical creatures, Rowling has also made some room for detective Cormoran Strike in her life.

HBO has acquired U.S. and Canadian rights to “Cormoran Strike,” BBC’s new limited series based on J.K. Rowling’s bestselling crime novels. Over four million copies of the three books, “The Cuckoo’s Calling,” “The Silkworm” and “Career of Evil,” have been sold worldwide, and another novel is expected to hit shelves in 2017. Written under the pen name Robert Galbraith, Rowling’s series follows the life of a war veteran turned private detective Cormoran Strike and his assistant, Robin Ellacott. The two work together from a tiny office in London’s Denmark Street and aim to solve three complex cases that have eluded police officers.

British actor Tom Burke (from “The Musketeers”) is set to play the protagonist in the three-part series. Filming starts this fall in London and is scheduled to air as three separate events. “The Cuckoo’s Calling” will air as three one-hour episodes while “The Silkworm” and “Career of Evil” will be divided into two one-hour episodes.

Meanwhile, the first installment of the author’s “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” film series is scheduled to hit theaters next month on November 18th.
