Get ready because Oscar-winning celebrity Natalie Portman has just become a contender for another Best Actress award.

Yesterday, Fox Searchlight released the official teaser for Pablo Larraín’s new movie, featuring Portman in the classic Jackie O. style the nation has come to know and love.

The movie opens with and is structured around Jackie’s interview with LIFE magazine reporter Theodore H. White, just a week after President John F. Kennedy’s assassination. Then, according to Indie Wire critic Ben Croll, the narrative quickly cuts back two years prior to the assassination, during Jackie’s first year as the First Lady.

Croll then adds, “It goes without saying that nothing about ‘Jackie’ would work without Natalie Portman’s magnificently layered performance.” Even in the trailer, Portman astutely and sensitively captures Jackie’s character, mannerisms, emotions and elegance. To get a peek for yourself, watch the preview above.

The movie is scheduled to release on December 9.
