Beyoncé may be one of the top queens of pop, but her little sister Solange isn’t living in her legendary shadow these days.

Solange Knowles released her new album – “A Seat at the Table” – on September 30 and its buzz is definitely holding its own with Queen Bey.

Solange’s latest album has hit the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart and beat Bon Iver’s latest collection. The R&B tunes ooze with soulful elegance and pack a punk twist. Her tracks also tackle critical social issues through powerful lyrics paired with a smooth sound.

“In a volatile world increasingly defined by the brash and the crude, Solange’s packaging of brutal honesty in tender, harmony-rich murmurs is both beautiful and radical,” Rolling Stones reports.

The inspirational woman has been in the entertainment world since 2001. In addition to belting her killer tunes, CNN points out that Solange is a songwriter, female actress and one of the faces of beauty company Rimmel London. Not to mention the businesswoman runs her own record label, Saint Records, which teamed up with Columbia Records to release her hit album.
