Entity reports on the running man challenge

The Running Man challenge was a short-lived dance craze that originated with these two youngsters.

But it gained popularity when Maryland basketball players Jared Nickens and Jaylen Brantley did the Running Man dance to the 1996 song “My Boo,” by Ghost Town DJ, and posted it on Instagram.

It was hilarious, and – not surprisingly – took off, quickly going viral. From there, the popularity of the dance shot off to other people, especially athletes, who decided to take on the dance challenge, too. And we have to admit, we kind of miss it.

Here we have compiled the top five executions of the Running Man challenge:

1 The OG

These two guys created and nationalized the Running Man challenge and we think they’re deserving of the title.

Not to mention, they sure know how to make an entrance. I mean, did you see him pop out of that laundry basket? Skills.

2 When the challenge made it to the NBA.

The running man challenge truly made it big after it was displayed at an NBA game. The Warriors cheerleaders acted all confused for a second, but we knew what was up.

They couldn’t resist getting in on the action and sharing their own take on the wildly popular Running Man challenge. Who could blame them?

3 When the North Charleston Police did the challenge

You know it’s a wholesome challenge when police forces are taking part in the movement. It’s hard not to laugh when you see that group of serious, old men hop up from their desks to take on a popular, dance trend.

And when the rest of the police force gets involved, with their wide smiles as they dance besides their peers? Well, that’s just almost too wholesome to handle.

4 When the running man challenge made it to high schools

This video makes us cringe a little bit, but bold execution of the challenge nonetheless.

And to be fair, we all know how monotonous and exhausting high school can become. So it’s nice to shake things up a bit every now and then — so why not do it with a goofy take on the Running Man challenge?!

5 When we realized we didn’t actually create the running man

That’s right. Nobody can touch the Fresh Prince. Will Smith has always had the moves.

But since it’s the era of bringing back everything from the ’90’s, we definitely don’t oppose the relapse.

Now that you know where it came from, and have seen the best of the best… don’t you miss it a little bit? #BringItBack
