Three months ago Trevor Noah and “The Daily Show” released a satirical take on what 2020 might look like in Donald Trump’s America.
Unfortunately, following the shocking results of the 2016 election, the joke got less funny as the bizarre predictions seemed to be coming true, and quickly.
Below ENTITY highlights five predictions that are getting a little too real.
In the forward-looking video Noah predicts Trump will go after the media with “new libel laws” which will eventually shut down “legit” news sources.
In reality Trump is trying to shut down real news sources like The New York Times and CNN by discrediting them every chance he gets. Post-election Trump publicly snubbed CNN saying, “Your news organization is terrible.” He even refused to take a question from CNN reporter Jim Acosta during a press conference claiming CNN is “fake news”. He also accused the New York Times of being “fake news” on Twitter and called The Washington Post “so false”.
And let’s not forget Trump’s Chief White House Strategist, Stephen K. Bannon, famously told the Times that the media should “keep its mouth shut and just listen for a while.” Um, okay?

According to CNN, Trump even has a media blacklist of publications he refuses to work with. These include, Washington Post, Univision, BuzzFeed, Politico, The Daily Beast, The Huffington Post and The Des Moines Register.
Noah predicted Obamacare will be replaced with something ridiculous. In his world that meant a Trump brand energy drink called “Trump Stuff”. In reality Trump didn’t waste any time tearing apart Obamacare, using one of his first acts as president to issue an executive order scaling back as many parts of the Affordable Care Act as possible.
So what’s replacing it you ask? Turns out POTUS and the Republicans don’t actually have a replacement for it yet so the answer is absolutely nothing. Sounds pretty ridiculous to us.
Noah predicted Trump’s antics, xenophobia and lack of diplomacy would surely anger some foreign leaders and inevitably lead to America’s expulsion from the United Nations. Turns out he’s not too far off.
Trump reportedly berated and hung up on the Australian Prime Minister during a contentious call about refugees. According to the Associated Press Trump also angered Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto and even threatened to send U.S. troops into the country.
Then, in a call with Angela Merkel, the German Chancellor had to explain the basic principles of the Geneva Convention to Trump — reminding him of the international community’s responsibility to take in war refugees on humanitarian grounds.
Merkel was forced to break down the international law after Trump issued an executive order which banned travel from seven Muslim-majority countries – Iraq, Syria, Iran, Yemen, Sudan, Libya and Somalia. An order which was criticized both at home and abroad for being a Muslim ban in disguise.

In other words we’re not exactly BFFs with the international community at the moment.
Noah predicted Trump would turn against Europe, alienate Asia and tell Africa to go back to Africa. In our reality Trump is doing just that. He’s already started to alienate foreign leaders, continues to provoke China — his closest advisor Steve Bannon believes war with China might happen in the next couple years — and while Trump hasn’t sent Africa back to Africa he essentially told the Middle East to go back to the Middle East with his Muslim ban. So who’s to say Africa isn’t next?
In fact, EU President Donald Tusk called Trump a “threat” to the administration, along with China, Russia and terrorism and radical Islam. What a list to be on.
One of the more ridiculous of Noah’s predictions was that Trump would institute a national anthem praising himself, rather than America. (Some sample lyrics: “And his hands are so big/And his shoulders so wide/And there’s no problem downstairs/Oh, that I can tell you.”)
While the “Star-Spangled Banner” is still in tact we all know the Donald loves a little self-praise. Okay, a lot. Right now he takes to his Twitter for that, but it’s not hard to see a future full of monuments, biopics and perhaps even a new anthem.
The U.S. Consumer Confidence Index for December surged nearly four points to 113.7, THE HIGHEST LEVEL IN MORE THAN 15 YEARS! Thanks Donald!

Wow, television ratings just out: 31 million people watched the Inauguration, 11 million more than the very good ratings from 4 years ago!

So remember three months ago when we were all laughing hysterically at this video, and thinking “thank God Hillary Clinton is going to win?” Well, it’s not quite as funny anymore.
Here’s to 2020.
