Everyone knows LeBron James. He’s the Cleveland Cavaliers turned Miami Heat star and “Trainwreck” star. But, behind every great man is an equally great woman. So who’s the woman whose stood behind James all these years?

But since ENTITY knows that women can stand on their own, we’re here to introduce you to Savannah Brinson outside of her marriage to LeBron James. We’re all about empowering women and we love her because of her efforts to support young girls in her community.

To serve as background information, though, you should know that Savannah and LeBron were high school sweethearts. The couple had their first child while she was in high school, and they tied the knot in 2013. Although Savannah had a child at a young age, she didn’t let that stop her from living her life.

So here are five times this badass mother, wife and woman Savannah Brinson helped support the women in her area.

1 She started a prom dress drive in 2013.

The event helped 50 at-risk high school senior girls get ready for prom with dresses, accessories and makeup tips.

“My favorite moment was when a young lady who put a dress would not stop crying,” she told Essence in an interview. “We told her how beautiful she was. She said, ‘I’m just so excited. I just never thought that this would happen for me.’ That’s why I do it…she deserves it.”

2 She started a mentoring initiative named Women of the Future.

The initiative was first launched at Savanna Brinson’s high school, Buchtel Community Learning Center. The program encourages students to continue their education with one-on-one mentorship and academic aid. According to Brinson, she was inspired by her own high school experience to start this.

“I wanted to start the Women of Our Future program because I know the struggles and pressures a lot of these young women are facing during these tough high school years, and I want them to know they are supported every step of the way,” Savannah said in a press release. “I’m passionate about empowering and encouraging these young women because they are the future leaders of our community.”

Her philanthropic efforts to empower women make us fall in love with her more and more.

3 She’s the vice president of the LeBron James Foundation.

And as vice president, Brinson supports the “I Promise” program, which encourages academic achievement from elementary through high school. After noticing the dropout rate in Akron Public Schools, the I Promise initiative provides students with mentorship, resources and encouragement to stay on track to graduation.

4 She was a featured speaker at the “For Women, Forever” event.

She spoke at the annual celebration of the Women’s Endowment Fund of Akron Community Foundation. This fund grants money to Summit County to improve the health, safety and economic well-being of women and girls in the area. With her help,  this event raised $100,000!

5 She supports the charity “Girl Listen.”

The charity encourages girls to deal with issues such as self-esteem issues, drug and alcohol abuse and teen pregnancy. She told Harper’s Bazaar in 2010 that she wanted to take part in the charity because of her personal experiences as a young girl in high school. “I’ve been through that, so I feel like teen girls will listen to me.”

“I’ve been through that, so I feel like teen girls will listen to me,” she said.

Overall, Savannah Brinson has continued to use her hardships to empower her instead of letting them keep her down. And we’re all about that here at ENTITY.
