ENTITY reveals why won't find Natalie Portman on Twitter.Natalie Portman

Natalie Portman’s latest film, the Pablo Larraín-helmed “Jackie,” plays with the challenge of controlling public persona, as she depicts the many sides of iconic first lady Jacqueline Kennedy.

And working on the movie had the actress reflecting on her own feelings in regards to public versus private image, which is why you won’t see her on Twitter anytime soon.

Speaking with The Washington Post, Portman reasoned, “I can relate to having an idea of what people who might not know you think about you, and how you try and be perceived — how you try and be careful when you’re talking in order to create a way for people to think about you.”

She shared how widespread this concern has become, since even people who aren’t public figures are now dealing with managing their online personas. “You can experience what people think about you, what people write about  you, even if you’re a nobody,” Portman said.

The Oscar winner has seemingly never been a big fan of social media, and spoke on the issue earlier in the year as well, while she was promoting her directorial debut, “A Tale of Love and Darkness.”

She told Business Insider of her distaste for social media back in August, sharing, “It feels like the last thing you want to do. It’s so much unwanted interest in your privacy that you don’t want to invite anymore.”

The pregnant actress, who shares five-year-old son Aleph with husband Benjamin Millepied, also admitted how grateful she was to not have grown up with the popularity of social media – both for the privacy to mature and make mistakes in peace and to avoid brutal criticism.

The “Black Swan” star had her breakout role at only 13 with “Léon: The Professional,” and has been in the spotlight since. “You see the amount of bullying and negativity that goes on that is really, really intense, and I feel lucky that I came of age before all of that came on,” she told the publication.
