We're all an HBIC on the inside.
If you live under a rock, then you’ve probably never heard of the acronym HBIC. But that’s fine because we’re here to teach you.
What does HBIC mean? Head. Bitch. In. Charge.
In other words, it refers to a female boss who also happens to be our favorite boss. And no, she’s not mean, bossy or patronizing. She’s just confident and knows exactly what she wants. The HBIC calls the shots and makes all the rules. She’s feared, but also admired.
You can find her in your workplace, at home and even in your personal social circle. But if you’re still a little confused, here are our favorite HBIC memes, songs and quotes to really drive the point home.

When HBICs walk into the room, they command all attention.
Beyonce’s “Flawless” is not only the ultimate feminist song, it’s also every HBIC’s theme song.
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s verse in this song reminds us that society’s idea of womanhood is extremely flawed. We are queens and we – sing it – wake up, flawless.

Because a HBIC always tells you how she’s feeling… even when she feels nothing.
Even Elle Woods knows that a HBIC isn’t going to waste her precious time on a man who isn’t worthy of it.
The HBIC title doesn’t wear off with age.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer was the HBIC of her own life. She was a teenager who fought vampires, and she did it effortlessly. She never let anyone get in her way and she was extremely powerful, physically and mentally.
Cher Horowitz from “Clueless” was the head of her school. She was picky with the guys she chose, and she never settled for anyone she didn’t think wasn’t worth her time.
And, by the way, she let everyone know how she was feeling and what was on her mind at all times.
Elle Woods broke every stereotype about sorority women and surprised everyone by getting into Harvard. We’re here for it. Although she was mocked and judged for her appearance, she proved that any woman can be smart, successful and powerful – even in a pencil skirt and pink heels.
Channeling your inner HBIC can come in many forms. From working hard to never shying away from a challenge, being a HBIC means something different for everyone. But the best part about the title is that we don’t have to be the head honcho all the time. Really, it’s about knowing that we can channel our inner HBIC whenever we want. This is what makes women so powerful.
