This pretty little liar can also sing.
Lucy Hale is best known as Aria, the trendsetting “Pretty Little Liars” character with big puppy eyes and a kind soul.
But now that the show is over, she’s recreating her brand and style.
So, what is Lucy Hale like off screen? Here are five facts you need to know about this pretty little liar.
Hale’s first venture into fame was as one of five winners on the children’s “American Idol” spin off, “American Junior.”
At the age of 15, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue her singing career. She received her first on-screen appearance as a guest star on an episode of the Nickelodeon show, “Ned’s Declassified Survival Guide” in 2005. She was even cast in a series called “Secrets of a Small Town,” but the show was canceled after one episode. Hale then went on to guest star on episodes of “Drake and Josh” and “The O.C.”
By 2007, she starred in eight episodes of the TV series “Bionic Woman.” She also guest starred on “Wizards of Waverly Place,” “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2” and “Private Practice” before she scored her role on “Pretty Little Liars” in 2010. According Seventeen, she didn’t even have to audition for her role in “Pretty Little Liars” because she already had such a big following.
The FreeForm show, however, launched her name into even bigger stardom, which is how she received bigger roles, such as the lead in “A Cinderella Story: Once Upon a Song” and “How I Met Your Mother.”
But now that “Pretty Little Liars” has ended, Hale is moving to a new show, where she plays the lead. However, she did talk to Teen Vogue about what it was like to end a show that was such a major part of her life.
“It was a mixture of emotions. It was obviously very sad,” Hale said. “The cast and the crew grew really close. It was also really gratifying. It’s been a long time on that show – we worked really hard. It felt like we had accomplished something really big. We left it on a good note.”
Although the “Pretty Little Liars” series has ended, Hale has bigger projects to keep her busy. In 2018, her new “Life Sentence” series will air on The CW.
The show is about a young woman, played by Hale, who is given a life sentence after being diagnosed with cancer. But once she finds out her cancer went into remission, she has to find a way to live with the decisions she made while she chose to live every day like it was her last.
Hale talked to Byrdie about beginning a new series.
“In this pilot I just did, I fell in love with the character; it was something so different,” Hale said. “I’m itching to do something insane and crazy. There’s nothing that I wouldn’t try.”
Hale first moved to L.A. to begin her singing career, but she ended up as an actor. But even after landing all her acting gigs, she never gave up on her first passion.
According to PR Newswire, Hale signed to Hollywood Records in 2012. She grew up listening to country music and her biggest influences were Shania Twain and Faith Hill. But her interest in pursuing a music career sparked when she saw Britney Spears’ music video for “…Baby One More Time.”
Hale released her debut country album, “Road Between,” in 2014. She also released a single, “You Sound Good To Me.”
The 28-year-old talked to Rolling Stone about how her singing career differs from her acting life. She told the publication how she’s not allowed to be her true self while she’s playing different characters. Music, however, allows her to release her inner feelings.
“For me, it was a way of being okay to share my true feelings because I don’t necessarily always get to do that,” Hale said.
While Hale and Harding’s on-screen relationship was major relationship goals, their off-screen relationship wasn’t as romantic as fans thought.
Hale talked to Byrdie about how “Pretty Little Liars” fans have merged Hale’s real life with her on-screen life. When they approach her on the street, fans ask Hale why she doesn’t hang out with the other girls in real life. “Then they’re like, ‘Why aren’t you dating Ezra?’ and I’m like, ‘Well, he has a girlfriend, and his name is Ian, and we’re just friends,'” she explained.
But, Harding did spill the beans in his memoir, “Odd Birds,” about how he would prepare for his sex scenes with Hale, according to People. Harding wrote about having a “smooth, porpoise-y” chest for the sex scenes. He also talked about how he was doing push-ups in his trailer before filming.
But over time, romantic scenes between the co-stars became more natural and comfortable. Their first kiss wasn’t as easy. Harding said he flossed three times before the scene and gargled mouthwash between every take.
While their off screen relationship didn’t mirror their on screen relationship, we’re not surprised people thought they dated off screen. The connection between the co-stars was real.
“I think when we started working with each other we were both super nervous and making sure we were in tip-top shape, and then towards the end we didn’t care,” Hale told People.
Hale spends a lot of time working on her Instagram aesthetic, and her outfit photos are the best part of her social media platform.

She also managed to create a bright, professional and sultry look. This entire outfit deserves to be on a runway.
And we’re still trying to figure out how she managed to make such a simple outfit look so high end?
Although fans have known Hale as the sweet Aria, she’s starting to venture out into her own person as an actress and musician. Hale spoke to Entertainment Tonight about how 2017 was going to be her best year yet. She continued to talk about how she’s trying out new experiences that will scare her a little bit.
“I think business-wise it’s going to be great, but I feel like personally it will be, hopefully, my best year yet,” Hale told Entertainment Tonight.
No matter where the road takes her, we’re excited to see where she ends up.
