Three months after their romantic English wedding, singer Ciara and quarterback Russell Wilson have announced they are expecting a baby. Early in the relationship, the celebrity couple publicly confirmed they would stay celibate until marriage. Given the timeline, the pair have clearly wasted no time getting their family started.
According to People, Ciara and Wilson shared the news with an Instagram post after pregnancy rumors swirled around the Internet this week. This is the first child for Wilson and the second for Ciara, who has a two-year-old boy Future Zahir Wilburn from a previous relationship with rapper Future. This exciting news was revealed on Ciara’s 31st birthday, a week after the announcement of Ciara’s collaboration with makeup brand Revlon.
During their relationship, they openly discussed their decision to remain abstinent until marriage. Religion is extremely important to Wilson, which has influenced the couple’s choice to wait. In an interview at The Rock Church in San Diego, Wilson spoke about the decision with Pastor Michael McPherson.
“I said to her – and she completely agreed – ‘Can we love each other without that?’” Wilson said via People. “If you can love somebody without that, then you can really love somebody.”
Although he was firm in his choice, Wilson admitted the plan didn’t come easy for him. He joked about his struggle to wait with such an attractive girlfriend, showering the singer-songwriter girlfriend with heartwarming words.
“I ain’t gonna lie – I need ya’ll to pray for us,” Wilson said via People. “Because I know you have seen her on the screen now. If there’s a 10, she’s a 15. Pray for me, keep my mind clear, keep my heart clear.”
The lovebirds tied the knot three months ago with a wedding in England this July after a four-month engagement. Wilson proposed to his soulmate on a tropical vacation at the Seychelles, an collection of islands off the coast of East Africa. On their special day, Ciara, adorned in lace, looked elegant next to her dapper husband donned in a black tux.
While the details of their meeting are not confirmed, the pair were first seen together at NBC’s “I Can Do That” wrap party back in April of 2015, according to Us Weekly. A source claims two were seen cuddling at the event.
After the party, the duo attended a Seattle Mariners game together. While a report from The Washington Post speculated Wilson planned to take Ciara as his date to a White House Correspondents Dinner, Wilson put that rumor to rest – he announced on Twitter that he was taking his grandmother instead. (He did invite his new lover to the White House State Dinner later that month, though.)
Eventually the couple put the speculation to rest and finally came public with their blossomed romance in July, according to People. After witnessing their summer wedding and now the pregnancy announcement of their first child, ENTITY is thrilled for the celebrity couple.
