Felicity Jones went from starring in British TV shows to “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.”
Our favorite Rogue One cast member starred in many popular movies including, “Like Crazy,” “Invisible Woman” and “Amazing Spider-Man 2.” She also famously played the role of Stephen Hawking’s wife, which got her nominated for a Golden Globe and Oscar in “The Theory of Everything.”
Up until “Rogue One,” Jones had been known for her dramatic roles which excluded blasters and lightsabers.
Jones says that a lot of her inspiration and energy to play Jyn comes from Ronda Rousey.

Felicity Jones was born in Birmingham, England in 1983. Jones’ older brother works as a film editor and their uncle is a known, popular artist, Michael Hadley. She started acting around the age of twelve with her first TV movie, “The Treasure Seekers” with Keira Knightley.
The story revolved around a single father who couldn’t afford to support his children so the kids took it upon themselves to make money for the family.
Felicity Jones worked in the radio industry for ten years playing Emma Grundy on the UK’s radio soap opera, “The Archers.” She played this character even while participating in other roles, and during her time as a student while attending the University of Oxford.
Her breakout year is considered to be 2011, when the comedy-drama film, “Like Crazy,” was released. She was named Best Female Newcomer at the U.K. Empire Awards and received the New Hollywood Award at the Hollywood Film Awards.
More recently she starred in “Rogue One” as Jyn Erson, in which she was reportedly paid more money than her fellow male co-stars. What a milestone! This is almost unheard of in Hollywood. Go Felicity!
She also played Felicia in “The Amazing Spider-Man 2.” You may also recognize her in her Academy Award-nominated role playing Jane Hawking from the 2014 film “The Theory of Everything.”
Jones has been the face of a couple high-end fashion companies after securing contracts with both Burberry and Dolce and Gabbana. The British actress has also been regularly spotted attending prestigious fashion events, including the London and Paris Fashion Week.
Felicity Jones graduated from the University of Oxford where she studied English literature and language. She has discussed that she became very close to going to law school but is glad she didn’t because of the work load and stress associated with being a lawyer.

Felicity Jones will play another feminist hero on “On the Basis of Sex.” Jones will play Supreme Court Justice, Ruth Ginsburg in this biopic film. Ginsburg was the second female U.S. Supreme Court judge appointed by Bill Clinton and is a strong advocate for equal rights. Production is expected to begin in September in Montreal.
