ENTITY reports Fergie as one of five female musicians who will be coming out with a new album in 2017 after a break from the music scene

Some favorite female powerhouses are set to return to the music scene in 2017.

Singers Fergie and Nelly Furtado are currently trending with their latest videos and sparking interest about their long awaited albums set for release next year. But who else is targeting a return to the charts after a long break?

ENTITY identifies five female musicians planning comebacks in 2017.

1 Fergie

With her latest music video,”Life Goes On”, the former Black Eyed Peas singer proves that her music career is hardly dead. The video takes a surprising twist by featuring Baddie Winkle, the 88-year-old woman who is Instagram famous for her edgy style. “Life Goes On” is the lead off single from Fergie’s 2017 album,  “Double Dutchess.”

2 Nelly Furtado

Nelly Furtado. a star in the 2000’s, will be another woman hopping on the music scene in 2017. The “I’m Like a Bird” and “Promiscuous” singer has dropped a music video for her latest song “Pipe Dreams.” The video’s old-school vibe with its home video camerawork and ’80s-esque fashions hints at a retro feel for her upcoming album.

3 Shania Twain

The country-pop icon returns in the spring with a new album after a long break. “I’m so overdue!” Twain told Entertainment Weekly about her 14 year hiatus. “I feel like I just need to keep making albums now.” She will also headline 2017’s Stagecoach, the country music festival.

4 Lorde

The “Royals” singer hasn’t released any new music since her first album’s debut in 2013. But Pitchfork reports that fans will get to hear her voice again in 2017. Lorde hinted at a more mature sound and outlook with a Facebook post saying, “Writing ‘Pure Heroine’ was my way of enshrining our teenage glory … and this record – well, this one is about what comes next”

5 Ashlee Simpson

The “Pieces of Me” singer took eight years away from the charts to focus on being a mom but is giving patient fans new music next year. The new album’s sound will be  “soulful, fun and reflective,” she tells Us Weekly.
