ENTITY shares cruelty free makeup from PopSugar

Being an Intern at ENTITY Mag definitely has its perks. The foremost being able to sample products from Beauty by PopSugar’s new cruelty-free make up line. I have to be honest, I’m not really a makeup girl. Nevertheless, I take my eyeliner very seriously. With so many cruelty free eyeliners on the market, the competition is stiff to be a staple in my makeup bag. It boasts “will smudge – won’t budge” on the package, but my experience was a little bit different. Here’s what I thought about their Be Relentless Stay Put eye line.

The Product

The Beauty by PopSugar eyeliner comes in a clean, crispy white package with a blue watercolor flower adorning the side; simple yet beautiful. I tried the color Don’t Back Down (03) which is best described as a dark grey metallic. The eyeliner is retractable (thank God!) and it appears reasonably pigmented as determined by my hand swatch. Keep in mind, it is summer and my skin is a lot closer to milk chocolate than usual.

Beauty by PopSugar prides themselves on using quality products. Many of the products from their line are vegan as well as cruelty-free, which is awesome. I definitely felt confident trying their products as I have typically sensitive skin.

The Application

I went through my normal, basic morning routine of washing then moisturizing my face before applying the liner. When I applied it, it went on smoothly, which is a definite pro! I absolutely despise dry and/or coarse eyeliners. The instructions on the box urge you to apply it, smudge it softly, then wait a few seconds for it to set. I don’t do the smudge look, so I opted out of that part. It took at least four or five strokes for the liner to appear near my waterline. For me, that was a con as I don’t like to feel as if I’m caking on makeup.

When applied, it didn’t appear as boldly or as shimmery as it did on my hand swatch, another con. Overall, it looked nice and felt good on.

The Bottom Line

Here’s the Bottom line…

Would I buy this product on my own? Probably not. Will I try it again? Yes.

By the time I got home around 8 pm that night, there were little to no traces of eyeliner remaining. So will it smudge? Sure. Won’t budge? Ehhhhh. I beg to differ. It definitely did NOT stay put as the name suggests. However, I do realize that my skin is very oily in the summer and I do tend to rub my eyes more often than the average person.

Look:

For $18 there are cheaper eyeliners that will do a better job and last longer. However, $20 to try a new liner isn’t a bad cost risk. You try it out, and let me know what you think!

Here’s a list of some other really great cruelty-free eyeliners. Early 2000s me says you can never have too much liner. I think Green Day would agree.

If you need some help removing your no-go’s from your face, ENTITY also has an article to assist with getting rid of stubborn waterproof eye makeup without all the drama.

May your face be beat all summer long.
