However, at that time, getting your nails done symbolized going to war. It can be safe to say that the fascination with nails and getting them done has been embedded in most people’s DNA.
Around 3000 BC, as well, we had the introduction of “nail polish” by Chinese women, who used egg whites, beeswax, gum Arabic, gelatin, and natural dyes to create a basic version of what we use today. While having nails done centuries ago may have symbolized class hierarchy, nowadays, it’s more about what is hot and trending and is used as an expression of style.
We now have nails that are shaped differently, from rounded, to squared, to what I like to call daggers or witch’s nails. Plus, people are now experimenting heavily with color. Fun fact: the 2023 nail color of the year is called Viva Magenta, according to Pantone.
Cool (or rather hot) outfits in vibrant colors, killer kicks, hairstyles, and accessories galore are all the rage in the summertime. It’s also a time of many vacations, weddings, parties, and other outdoor events. Summer is like an awakening from the slumber of dead winter after hitting the snooze button all through spring.
