Entity discusses the #runwayforall movement and how it is changing the fashion industry.

Tired of seeing only one body type on the runway every time you watch a fashion show? Wish there were greater evidence that the fashion industry was actually taking strides to break away from the rigid body requirements for models?

Though body diversity in the fashion industry has been a hot topic for the past few years, a new campaign on Instagram has focused on making the inclusion of all types of individuals a necessity on the catwalk. #RunwayForAll was a weeklong series created by the social media site in order to shine the spotlight on some of the industry’s most courageous and diverse fashion stars on the rise.

When TeenVogue interviewed male model Shaun Ross, one of the first male models of color with albinism, he was more than eager to elaborate on the movement. “#RunwayForAll is a world where everyone is treated the same,” he said. “I remember when I first entered the industry all I saw were models that looked the same. Now here we are almost 10 years later, and I see the choice I’ve made has helped the industry to see beauty in many ways.”

Other individuals who are part of spearheading this campaign feel the same way, including Brooklyn-born model Mama Cax. “The majority of humans do not look like the mainstream idea of beauty,” she explains. “Eight years ago, after getting my leg amputated, the idea of being a model was even more far-fetched.” Now the centerpiece for a head-wrap company and the author of an incredible blog, Cax has found an outlet to connect with many diverse men and women who also may feel excluded from the fashion world.

#RunwayForAll is looking to directly knock down the notion of what beauty is – one snapshot at a time.
