Are there brains behind the beauty?
ENTITY discusses the pros and cons of PopSugar beauty!Beauty by Popsugar is an eco-friendly makeup brand with products that are vegan and gluten-free. Being vegan and gluten-free is already a huge plus for the makeup industry! There are several products available with the launch of the beauty line, so there’s definitely something for everyone.
Here’s my own makeup review of the mascara, lip gloss and eyeliner to make your purchase decisions that much easier.
Their slogan “smart meets beauty” is cute and catchy.
But will their products stand the test of a 9 to 5 workday? Let’s find out.
Usual makeup reviews would just talk about the look and feel, but we know that you need more information than that. Sure, a product can look amazing when you first use it, but several hours later it can look like a hot mess!
I put each beauty product through three trials to see how they handled the everyday actions of a working woman, from early mornings to late evenings.
Are you ready?
I was so excited about this product when I found out that there were two ends. One is a normal, nice thick wand that wasn’t clumped with the product. The thin side was so cute and I loved that I didn’t have to buy another mascara to do my lower eyelashes! It’s really two products for the price of one. This is already a plus.
I did not pre-curl my lashes beforehand. When I put the first coat on, I definitely saw the volume, that was easy to identify. All volume, but sadly, no curl. My lashes kind of looked like spider legs. After using my curler on them, they looked perfect.
So, you will definitely need to keep your curler on standby for this one.
Interesting fact: the mascara includes sodium hyaluronate, which is a chemical that helps improve mangled eyelashes. COOL!
Cry Test: After watching a montage of sad Disney moments I went to inspect myself in the mirror. There was definitely a collection of the product underneath my eye, but nothing my finger couldn’t get rid of in a few seconds- an easy fix.
Accidental eye rub: no product was left on my finger, but my undereye situation was not glam perfect. Again, I could get some water and use my finger to fix the situation.
Contact emergency: I don’t know about you, but when I have a contact emergency, it can get messier than a sad Disney montage. After trying, and failing, multiple times to get my contact lense in, and add the solution, I finally had my finished look. Except that my contact solution had gotten my eyelashes wet and the mascara had created a dotted line on the crease of my eyelid.
I was so excited to get this on my lips that I couldn’t help but open it the second I got it. The outside looks like a beautiful, holographic dream, so bonus points for packaging! If you could imagine a pink silk fabric slowly falling across your lips, that’s what putting on this lip gloss was like.
The only thing that stood in my way of that dream was the fact that my applicator was skewed and several bristles seemed to have a mind of their own. It was probably a dud, but it made the application a bit difficult.
Coffee: Sadly, the lip gloss lost the battle against my Grande White Chocolate Mocca, but a quick re-application saved the day.
Hair in the mouth: This is a problem that most lip glosses have. When your hair gets anywhere near your lips, they become a victim, Venus flytrap style. The lipgloss survived after I got my hair behind my ears, but it was no picnic getting to that point.
Kiss Test: Lip gloss is for the shimmer and shine, not for the bump and grind. Unless you want sticky, holographic streaks over your partners face, stick to going natural.
Hydrating and smooth, this has to be my favorite product from PopSugar! It isn’t too dark for my pale skin, which can be hard to find in a dark lip balm color.
Lunch: There were only minor casualties in the battle of lip balm vs. peanut butter sandwich. The inside ring of my lips could be seen, but the rest was victorious.
Slumber party: When you’re hanging out with the girls, there is bound to be one (or more) of the following activities:
This lip balm will get you through the whole night with soft lips that will keep you confident from sunset to sunrise.
Long walk on a hot day: I took this lip balm out while I was doing some casual shopping. The sun was burning a hole in the city of Los Angeles, which is why I am so grateful that this lip balm has SPF 15. My lips are always the first to get sunburnt, but this saved my entire trip.
I will also be using this lip balm at night so my lips do not become as dried and cracked like the desert in August.
I never knew how much went into makeup reviews. In the span of a day I cried, kissed, and risked being sunburnt, but it was all in the name of science. Overall, I will definitely be buying from PopSugar again. I’m very interested in trying their highlighter next!
