Salma Hayek is a bombshell beauty that has taken over Hollywood. But she isn’t just beautiful, she’s also multitalented.

Salma has been an actress in the movie business for over two decades, and she is also a director and producer.

The former model was born on September 2, 1966 in Coatzacoalcos, Mexico. She was raised by her father, Sami Hayek, a wealthy businessman, and her mother, Diana Medina, an opera singer.

We admire Salma Hayek and want you to know everything about her, outside of the basic facts about her childhood. So we did some digging.

Here’s what we found.

1 She’s a Hollywood Legend.

Salma Hayek started her career in Mexico but moved to the Hollywood scene at age 25.

She told The Guardian that when she moved to Los Angeles, no one would hire her. “I had studio heads say to me, ‘You could have been the biggest star in America, but you were born in the wrong country. You can never be a leading lady, because we can’t take the risk of you opening your mouth and people thinking of their maids,’” she explained.

But look at her now. We bet those hiring managers regret saying that.

Salma Hayek’s first major film was “Desperado” in 1995, alongside Antonio Banderas. From there, she was in “Dusk Till Dawn” with A-list celebrities, including George Clooney and Quentin Tarantino.

But, her breakthrough role was in 2002, when she co-produced and starred in “Frida,” a film based on the Mexican painter, Frida Kahlo.

Her performance in “Frida” earned Salma a great amount of recognition in Hollywood. In fact, it made her one of four Latinas that have been nominated for Best Actress at the Academy Awards.

Some recent Salma Hayek movies include “Beatriz at Dinner” (2017), “How to Be a Latin Lover” (2017), “The Hitman’s Bodyguard” (2017) and “Sausage Party” (2016).

Salma’s recognition continues to grow and we can’t wait to see what she has in store for us.

2 Salma Hayek is also a Producer and Director.

In 2004, she won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing in a Children/Youth/Family Special for the film “The Maldonado Miracle.”

She was also recognized for her work as an executive producer and guest actress on the show “Ugly Betty.” The series went on from 2006 to 2010 and won the Golden Globe Award for Best Comedy Series in 2007.

3 Her full name is Salma Hayek-Pinault.

Salma Hayek’s husband is a French billionaire businessman, François-Henri Pinault.

The couple got engaged in March 2007, but then cancelled their engagement in 2008. They eventually reconciled and were married in Paris on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2009. But since their first marriage was a low-key civil ceremony, they decided to have a more lavish wedding later that year.

Their second wedding took place at the La Fenice opera house in Venice on April 25, 2009. After a masquerade-style rehearsal dinner the night before, the couple exchanged vows in front of 150 friends and family members.

Who says you can’t have two weddings? Salma is living the dream.

4 She’s a mother.

Salma Hayek’s daughter, Valentina Paloma Pinault, is becoming quite an entrepreneur herself.

The nine year old is apparently making a business out of slime. Yes. Slime.

“She has a lot of it in the house. She has developed like 40 different recipes for slime and she became very popular in school because it’s not easy to make,” Hayek told People. “Now she’s experimenting with different things and the kids all want to learn and she teaches them, and then they want to buy it from her. She started selling the slime!”

It’s good she has a businessman as a father – maybe she’ll even follow her dad’s footsteps.

5 She’s a proud feminist.

Salma Hayek is a proud feminist and we’re here for it.

About four years ago, Hayek co-founded Chime for Change with Beyoncé Knowles-Carter. The campaign was created “to convene, unite and strengthen the voices speaking out for girls and women around the world.”

Some of her current projects include building schools for Syrian refugees in Turkey and Lebanon. They also fundraise to support a female inventor who is working on a cheap incubator for maternity wards in the developing world.

She’s an advocate for women’s rights and believes in making our world a better place for women.

“I am a feminist because I love women and I am ready to fight for women [and] I am proud to be a woman, and I am passionate about making the world a better place for women,” she told The Guardian.

Here at ENTITY, Salma Hayek is a Woman That Does and we are happy to see women from all ethnicities succeeding.
