Are you ready to style rumble? On the right, we’ve got the East Coast and on the left, the West Coast. Let’s begin!

This fashion face-off includes different splashes of glam with street-style all up in the mix. As stated in The Huffington Post, the fashion feud between the East Coast and West Coast has long been a topic of discussion, but there’s something to love about both.

In an interview by Yummie with celebrity stylist Christina Pacelli, the fashion expert says growing up in Huntington Beach influenced her SoCal fashion. However, Pacelli is now based in New York City, where she says she can practice her art and creativity through the looks she curates for clients.

Whether you’re an aspiring fashion stylist like Pacelli or just a lover of clothes, you understand that every trend easily makes its way to big cities like Los Angeles and New York City. Since each coast has its own particular style, these looks always end up getting tweaked or changed based on the location of the city – West or East. The differences are due to lifestyle and weather factors. You hardly need to layer up during the winter in San Diego, but that snow jacket is a must in Chicago.

With that, let’s check out these competing styles!

Sunshine and beaches. Those are the words that come up when you think about the West Coast. In turn, the style is associated with just that – a relaxed vibe. Styles favor a beachy, effortless, casual look with splashes of flirty and sexy. The West Coast is definitely not afraid to show some skin.

West Coasters love their bright colors, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have a thing for neutral colored looks, too! They’ve got the boho babe outfits on deck complete with fringe and tassels. They’re coming for ya, Coachella!

Don’t forget about the daring looks the West Coast pulls off. The bold, black dress with some low-cut sides paired with boots is a look you’ll see everywhere in Los Angeles. That SoCal lover never forgets her trendy sunglasses and studded purse.

When the weather gets a bit cooler, shorts are still a perfect go-to when paired with a long sleeve and boots. You can’t ever go wrong with oversized cardigans, rompers and casual jeans, too! Throw on a hat and a statement necklace and you’re ready to go.

Sleek, polished and preppy – these words describe the East Coast look. Fashion in the East favors sophistication with bold looks that never seem overdone. Additionally, the East Coaster isn’t afraid to mix lots of textures!

Since it’s a bit chillier, the East Coast ladies have the layering look down – they’ve nailed it from head to toe. This mastery of elegant layering allows them to take their outfits from day to night easily. They know how to play up their layered looks with more subtle pieces, but never forget about the possibility of adding color or statement jewelry.

In New York City, you’ll see lots of bold, all-black looks, but then you’ll also see the grungier outfits. Either way, both styles are chic and are almost always paired with boots. For the women heading to the office, you’ll probably see them strutting in heels too.

While we’re on the topic of shoes, you’ll find every type of boot in an East Coast woman’s closet – ankle boots, sky-high heeled boots, rain boots, you name it! The colder weather is to blame for all the must-haves, but hey, you can never go wrong with too many boots, right?
