Mentorship March 27, 2018
This is what by women and for women actually looks like.
Here at ENTITY, we stand for and with women everywhere. Our goal is to inspire, empower and equip women with the tools they need to succeed.
Most importantly, we do this through our many forms of mentorship. Whether it’s through our social media, robust media platform or summer mentorship academy, we give women different ways to find inspiration and guidance. But we know that you’re not going to trust just anyone to guide you through life.
So, here’s why ENTITY is the next big thing in mentorship.
To practice what we preach, we created our in-house summer mentorship program, the ENTITY Academy. This isn’t just any ordinary experience. Through our six-week curriculum, young women hone important digital skills, receive leadership training through mentorship and gain access to a diverse group of highly-credentialed guest speakers.
Mentees gain the confidence and ability to stand up for themselves in any work environment. For example, our CEO and Founder Jennifer Schwab gives women tips on how to navigate the professional world. As a preview of the kind of advice young women receive, here’s what she told Forbes about negotiating your salary.
“Ask for the compensation you desire – it can be a mix of salary, bonuses, equity, profit-sharing options or expense accounts,” Schwab said.
She also told Hello Giggles one of the biggest mistakes women make during an interview is not doing enough research on the company.
“I’ve interviewed many young people who had never been to our website or seen what we do in the mentorship space,” Schwab said. “Knowing about a company beforehand not only allows you to ask pertinent questions, but it shows the employer that you’re serious about the job opportunity, have an attention to detail and are willing to put in the work.”
Jennifer has seen firsthand what competition does between women. This is why she fights against it.
“At the end of the day when women support women — rather than see them as competition — all women have a better chance at success,” Schwab told Thrive Global.
We believe in being proactive. We believe in action. ENTITY isn’t in the business of encouraging women to sit around and wish for something to happen to them – we tell them to go out and make things happen.
We strive to help women be the best versions of themselves – fearless, ambitious and hardworking.
Schwab told USA Weekly, “We want women from all walks of life, and all over America, to benefit from this program. Our graduates walk away more confident, more resilient, young women.”
This is why our mentorship program provides mentees with more than just professional guidance. We want our women to also be exposed to a range of activities, including but not limited to flying lessons, krav maga classes, yoga afternoons and self-defense training.
We want our women to go out there and do things, to be Women That Do.
It greatly benefits women to be made aware of their unique identities so they can work with them, not against them, to maximize their talent and live their best lives. At ENTITY, our mission is to encourage everyone to live as authentically as possible, so we are big believers in understanding our own default modes. In doing so, we are empowered to live in our strengths, but we’re also made aware of any hurdles that we may face that are endemic to our personality types.
This is why Schwab set out to create ENPersonalities, our carefully-designed test based on the 16 Myers Briggs personality types. Whether you’re a Kaia, the charismatic connector, or a Luna, the compassionate crusader, our personality tests provide insight into the way you work, play, live and love.
We believe in the power of women banding together and harnessing each other’s power. So, when it comes to major issues regarding our rights, we’re not afraid to stand up and speak out.
For example, we were the first to break the story of TMZ founder Harvey Levin meeting with Donald Trump. We also haven’t backed down from talking about sexual harassment in the workplace and how women can get ahead in a male-dominated work environment.
ENTITY wouldn’t be what it is today without Jennifer Schwab. She took her dream of creating a better world for women and turned it into a reality. As someone who had to go through her career with little guidance, she understands the hardships women go through when they don’t have mentors. So, she made it her life goal to change that.
“Especially in the workplace, I didn’t have other women who could help show me the way in my twenties,” Schwab told Los Angeles Magazine. “It became my purpose to help women in that age group.”
As a woman who is professionally and personally established, she believes it’s time to give back to a younger generation.
“Women who are in a position to mentor to younger women need to be proactive about reaching out and paying it forward,” Schwab said. “We need to offer what we’ve learned to help other women who feel like they have to bootstrap on their own.”
