ENIT mentee lists three things she's looking forward to in the mentorship program.

My name is Madison Mayer, and I am currently a rising junior at New York University. I feel honored to be joining the ENTITY team as a “mentee,” and it is with bright eyes and wobbly knees that I begin this journey, somewhat terrified but undoubtedly grateful. Walking into ENTITY headquarters, I was immediately struck by the sense of warmth and welcome in the air and the clip-clop of the heels of powerful women who are getting things done. My head is littered with questions, but I’m certain I have a lot to look forward to, including these three things.

1 Fostering Friendships With Feminists

With the United States being increasingly divided, constructive conversation with like-minded individuals can be hard to find. It is more important than ever to maintain connections with people whose values differ from one’s own. However, the comfort and safety of speaking to those with similar views allows room for individual growth and identity development. I am incredibly excited to learn from and be inspired by the feminist perspectives available to me at ENTITY. While each mentee comes from a unique background, we all share the common goal of promoting the female voice. I am constantly striving to be an informed and proactive feminist. I know being around fellow feminists will enhance my ability to do so, as each individual is glittering with wisdom and passion.

2 Developing a Portfolio

I am someone still searching for my own voice and how to access it. Thus, I am ecstatic to be spending the next seven weeks honing my writing skills. I, like many of my peers, have spent valuable time writing for academic purposes. The opportunity to work on personal or journalistic writing reflecting my own values is rare and precious. Working under the supervision of talented and established female writers, I feel confident that my writing is going to reach new heights of clarity and creativity. Creating an entire portfolio of my own words is a giant leap in the direction of linguistic success. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to create one amongst other inspiring writers.

3 Embracing a Whole New Digital World

Despite my status as a member of Generation Z, I have spent much of my life avoiding the digital world. Technology has always seemed  a loaded world holding puzzles I could not solve and knots I could not unravel. However, I am looking forward to being formally introduced to technology through ENTITY’s SEO Bootcamp. The ability to maneuver through several digital facets with ease is a skill that is increasingly crucial to participating in the careers available today. I can’t imagine a better team to learn from.
