Style June 28, 2017
Cargo shorts are not welcome in 2017.
The days of The Gap, Limited Too and Abercrombie & Fitch are over, but ’90s fashion trends have made a major comeback in the best way possible. We’re happy to be reliving the fashion style many of us were born into.
But before you start purchasing more chokers, jean overalls and plaid button ups, be wary of the ’90s trends we’re glad stayed in the ’90s. And for everyone’s sake, we hope these seven ’90s fashion trends stay there for good.
Men still wear them, but they probably should stop. Sure, they’re functional. We get it. But let’s get real – they’re ugly and every pair in the world should be burned.
If you’re still repping this haircut, you’re basically the guy (or gal) that’s most likely to be in a boy band that split up 17 years ago. It’s the opposite of ombré – in terms of style, acceptability and class.
N*SYNC was able to pull it off back in the day, but that’s because they were a hot boy band. They could’ve done anything to themselves and fans still would’ve loved them.
Okay I know I’ve talked a lot about how much I hate every trend before this one, but oh my gosh are bucket hats ugly. Bucket hats are like the fedoras of the ’90s and should probably only ever be worn to go fishing.
Honestly, what are these? These frog eyed sunglasses are only necessary if you’re a bike or athlete of some sort. This style is so outdated. Thank the universe for Wayfarers and Aviators.
These will forever be weird. If a guy is wearing a man tank, chances are it’s because he’s trying to show off his “huge pecs” that, in reality, are barely there. Man tanks are really only meant for the beach. For every other occasion, t-shirts and button ups do the job.
Does this one really need an explanation? Just… no.
These shorts are great for biking, but not really for anything else. Bike shorts somehow became the leggings of ’90s fashion trends. I’m not feeling it.
Despite this, we can definitely admit that the ’90s was probably one of the best decades.
From a major rise of hip hop to shows like “Saved By the Bell” and “Full House,” the ’90s was an innocent time. The revival of many old fashion trends is being welcomed with open arms, but these seven trends need to stay in their graves.
