Want to feel safe everywhere you go? We got your back, sister.
Every woman has felt that fear. The fear of walking down the street by yourself, seeing a figure in the distance, or hearing the scuffle of feet behind you.
You have to be able to guarantee your own safety, which is why we’ve got three Krav Maga moves that you NEED to know.
According to the Krav Maga Institute Tactica, Krav Maga was introduced to Isreali soldiers in the 1950s. The modern popularity comes from the fact that you do not have to be taller, stronger, or larger than your attacker to win. Krav Maga is only used as a last resort option, in lessons, students are taught how to end a fight before it starts.
Bottom line?
Use your judgment when it comes to conflict.
If someone is coming at you, scream at them. Yell, make a ruckus, wake up every single person around you.
If there is no one around you, then act like you have a weapon or pepper spray.
If the person just does not get the clue to leave you the hell alone, then start off with these moves.
Your instinct might be to punch and that would be correct, but a little adjustment could go a long way. Instead of punching straight on with your knuckles, throw your hand in a hammer-like motion. Always make sure that you finish the swing of your fist, just like a baseball swing. This will keep your hand from becoming damaged and can hold more force.
You will also be able to perform this move as many times as it takes for you to get a chance to run away. Don’t stop after one hit, stay for the long haul, show the attacker that you will not back down.
Someone wraps their arms around your neck, you cannot move out of their grasp. What do you do?
Let’s say the attacker’s right arm is around your neck. With both hands grab the attackers wrist and forearm. move your head to the left and tuck your chin down. Push your left shoulder back into the attacker’s chest as hard as you can. This will create a space where you can step with your left foot out of the way. Keep a hold on your attacker’s arm to twist it as you move.
This move will make the attacker go on his knees because of the angle you are bending their arm. Use this to your advantage and get away safely.
You can’t scream. You can’t run. First things first, you need to get their hands off your neck. Leverage your hands around the attacker’s forearms, drop your weight and kick your foot up to the groin area as hard as you can. This will hurt the attacker and you will have a chance to get away.
Once you get away, scream at the top of your lungs. Call the cops if you have your phone. Get somewhere safe. And if you see something going down, help out your fellow woman and call the police.
We all wish the world was a safer place. We can be hopeful, but not ignorant. It is always better to be safe than sorry. Practice these moves at home, teach your friends, your sisters, your girlfriends, your moms. Spread the word and let’s show men that we are not here for them to grab and abuse.
