“Suits” actress Meghan Markle stole the spotlight when her relationship with Prince Harry surfaced and now she’s claimed the title as the most searched actress on Google.
This year, Markle beat out her competitors, including Leslie Jones, who made headlines this year for her outspoken comments about her “Ghostbusters” haters, and Millie Bobby Brown, 2016’s top breakout star.

As Camilla Tominey, Royal Editor of Britain’s Sunday Express newspaper, has said, “What’s not to love about the world’s most charismatic royal hooking up with the divorcee daughter of a black mother and bankrupt father who has brains as well as beauty and ‘UN ambassador’ on her already impressive CV. Miss Markle could well prove to be the best thing that’s happened to the monarchy in years.”
What else is there to know about the new couple?
When news of Markle’s romance with Prince Harry made headlines, many people were on the defense about her ethnic background. As a half black half white woman, she was harassed for being “almost straight outta Compton.”
However, the 35-year-old actress has since defended herself in an open letter discussing her experience growing up biracial. “While my mixed race heritage may have created a grey area surrounding my self-identification, keeping me with a foot on both sides of the fence, I have come to embrace that,” she wrote on Elle UK.

Because he’s part of the royal family, Prince Harry is already aware of the media’s significant curiosity over his private life. And after being single for three years, it became a headline story when tabloids found out he was dating again.
Unfortunately, however, the media was more interested in the fact that she was a biracial American. In a statement from Kensington Palace, it said that Markle was subject to a “wave of abuse and harassment” about her race, suggesting that her biracial heritage wasn’t “good enough” for the prince. The Daily Mail even published an article contrasting Markle’s “tatty” Los Angeles neighborhood to Prince Harry’s Kensington home.
Her well-loved role as Rachel Zane from “Suits” is sure to have given the actress thousands of hits on Google. When the series first aired, viewers praised Rachel’s character as the tenacious go-to paralegal. Not only that, but Markle herself has admitted to being proud of how Rachel Zane “helped shift the way pop culture defines beauty.”
Aside from “Suits,” Markle also makes appearances in “Horrible Bosses” as Jamie, “Remember Me” as Megan and “Fringe” as Junior FBI Agent Amy Jessup.
Prince Harry has previously been in the news for his rebellious past. Thus, Meghan Markle has probably become more interesting by association. Before Markle, Prince Harry was previously known as the “playboy prince.” As royal expert Ingrid Seward said, “Harry is just Harry. He is a spirit unto himself. He’s open and affectionate, but doesn’t like being told what to do by anyone.”
And even though he’s grown since his playboy days, Prince Harry still shows his rebellious side every now and then. Early this month, Harry broke royal protocol by combining private and public engagements in the same trip. After an official tour, Prince Harry made a 1,700-mile detour to visit his girlfriend. Even though he was expected to fly back to London, he instead boarded a flight to Toronto where Markle lives.

When the actress and the royal prince started dating, one of the first observations made is that she greatly resembles Kate Middleton. If not for her facial features, then for her personal characteristics and fashion sense.
As the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate is known for her bright smile, fashionable wardrobe and refined hairstyles. Meghan Markle seems to possess these qualities as well.
