We like to do it big here. We get lit on news at least a month before the show’s premiere date.
So, read all about what’s to come for the “Broad City” new season and catch up with the rest of us.
Comedy Central originally set “Broad City” season four’s premiere date for Aug. 23. It would’ve been right as everyone got settled in for college. The viewers could watch new episodes of “Broad City” as the onset of fall semester-stress began. The broke life becomes so much easier when you have someone going through similar struggles.
Unfortunately, though, Comedy Central has officially pushed the date to Sept. 13 for a fall premiere instead of a late summer one. This new date comes about three weeks after, which means we all must wait three weeks longer to get our Abbi and Lana doses.
This development sucks, but don’t fret. The longer the release, the better the post-production results. Additionally, if you don’t already know about the “Hack Into Broad City” webisodes, we have a way to ease your pain. These YouTube webisodes are just mini, online versions of “Broad City” episodes.
As many news outlets have been reporting, such as USA Today, “Broad City” season four will treat Trump’s name as a curse word throughout this season. In accordance with what Abbi and Lana shared at their 2017 Comic-Con panel, the script was rewritten after the election, which might be a reason why the premiere date was pushed back.
Therefore, be prepared for tons of Trump sexual innuendos and shade. You know these ladies have never held back on blasting things they don’t like. This has especially been the case for issues like infringement on women’s rights, sexual liberation, civil rights, etc. They are a huge part of the liberal generation’s voice. And as such, they wouldn’t miss the chance to speak for us against the patriarchy.
Because of this new agenda and the currently scattered state of the union, this season will be “dark as fuck,” as Lana eloquently puts it in an interview with The Daily Beast. America has been going through darker and more uncertain times as we’ve dealt with a huge shift towards the alt-right, which has caused a complete upheaval of the country we’ve had in the last eight years. “Broad City” plans to explore what this looks like in the lives of Abbi and Lana.
Usually, “Broad City” films in the summer and the setting has made for amazing episodes. Where would we be without the episode when Lana and Abbi were running around in the heat trying to find air conditioning and ended up bonging-it-up with a bunch of minors? Or the episode when Lana forgot where she put her keys? The girls desperately stood outside in the heat and then had to walk covered in sweat stains to Abbi’s “art show.”
However, this season of “Broad City” was filmed in the winter. Because of this, we will experience new situations with Abbi and Lana. As Abbi Jacobson explains at the “Broad City” 2017 SDCC panel, this new environment “yields different kinds of stories … indoor stories [that] touch on how depressing [winter in New York] can be. You kind of have to look at yourself in a way that you don’t want to.”
This is probably why Lana will undergo sex therapy. Our favorite deflection queen will seek help for a sexual dry spell. I doubt this therapy session will primarily focus on sex. Lana just got out of a long-time “situationship” with Lincoln and we’re sure she’ll explore some of those emotions.
With more shine, comes more stars. “Broad City’s” season four reaches it’s “made it” status with this season’s list of guest stars. This season will feature Fran Dresher, Wanda Sykes, Shania Twain, Steve Buscemi and Ru Paul. When we see Abbi and Lana fan-girling it out with pictures on their social media and all we can say is: “Same.” You’re never too old to freak out over household names like these.
“Broad City” season three had its fair share of adventures. However, “Broad City” season four will be leaving New York city altogether to travel south. As seen in the “Broad City” season four trailer, the girls travel to gun-toting Florida with Lana’s brother. Seeing these ladies travel outside of their natural habitat will be an exciting ride.
So we see the iconic relationship between Abbi and Lana in every episode of “Broad City.” But the question we’ve never gotten an answer to is, “How long have these two been friends and how did they meet?” Finally, “Broad City” season four plans to show us these developments.
We know they’ve been friends for a while, long enough to finish each other’s sentences and have their whole brain-meld thing going on. However, they haven’t been friends long enough for Abbi to know simple things about Lana, like the fact she’s allergic to shellfish. So, we’re excited to fill in those blank spots and see life was like before they became the dynamic duo we love today.
Apparently, they were both still broke and always running late. It seems like some things never change.
