Don't know what you're doing with your schooling or your career? ENTITY Academy can help with that!
Prior to coming to ENTITY Academy, I didn’t know what to do with my life. As a rising sophomore in college with no major, I just needed direction. ENTITY Academy helped me find just that. The tools and resources I’ve been given during my time here at ENTITY have granted me clarity and a far better idea of my future career. I couldn’t be more thankful.
One of the best things about ENTITY Academy is the fact that each day you get to hear from some of the most successful professionals out there.
Coming into the writing collective, I expected all of our speakers to be writers and journalists. But that was not the case. Mentees listened to a broad range of speakers: Christina Pascucci from KTLA, Pamela Baxter from POPSUGAR Beauty, Courtney Dorne from Vertical Companies, Elijah Schneider from Modifly, and Sybil Grieb from Edelman.
This variety has been so beneficial to me — someone who doesn’t know their ideal future career yet — and has given me a strong sense of clarity as to what I am interested in and what maybe isn’t for me.
A big part of ENTITY Academy is working on “hard skills.” Some of these skills include search engine optimization, digital marketing, and InDesign, which are skills that not many will learn in their undergrad courses.
Not only can I put these on my resume, making myself far more appealing to prospective employers, but I can use these skills in almost any career.
Coming into ENTITY Academy I did not expect to make many close friends. I didn’t know anyone from the program ahead of time and I didn’t see myself making strong connections within the short span of four weeks.
However, things changed the minute I met my roommates. The four of us hit it off immediately, and after sharing in the experience of working and living in LA for four weeks, I can honestly say that I hope to know these people forever.
This gave me a powerful sense of community and allowed me to feel comfortable and confident enough to openly explore my possible interests with people who care about and respect my vision and me.
A key part of the ENTITY Academy experience is living in the city of Los Angeles. I’m a New Yorker, so it was a really eye-opening experience to live on the opposite coast. There is ample time to explore, as ENTITY stresses a good work-life balance, on weekdays after 5 p.m. and weekends.
So you really do get the chance to go out and see LA for what it really is. And the four-week time span is the perfect amount of time to get the true feel of LA, which has allowed me to honestly contemplate whether or not this would be a place I’d like to live in the future.
At ENTITY Academy, I got the chance to work alongside over 50 other girls (and two boys) who are around my age and are also trying to figure out what to do in their lives and how to get there.
This was helpful in so many ways. Not only did I get to see the ways in which my peers are going for their goals, but I got to hear what these goals were and consider if I’d like to maybe do the same. Not to mention it was so incredibly motivating to see people like me reaching for what they want. I now feel inspired to go and do the same.
In all, ENTITY Academy has given me a focus and sense of direction in my future career that I did not have before I arrived. I’ve now heard from countless professionals about possible career paths and gained hard skills that will benefit me for life in any career.
On a more personal level, I have friends that I’ll hopefully know my whole life, I’ve seen LA, and I have a newfound sense of inspiration and motivation from the very people who are just like me. I highly recommend this program if you’re like me and don’t necessarily know what you want yet. You have nothing to lose!
