As media and journalism slowly switch to the digital world, it’s now essential to learn how to write online. Any search for a freelance job enquires about your SEO skills. At ENTITY Academy we spent two intensive weeks learning all of the tips and strategies to reach that revered first page of Google search results.

The mentors at ENTITY Academy are well versed in their craft and helped walk us through the difficulties of learning SEO. It was exciting to have the creative freedom to choose topics and keywords that invigorated us personally. The flexibility in our writing topics and the feedback I received made me into a better, more marketable writer. Being able to add ‘SEO writing’ to my resume is an invaluable booster to set me apart from the rest.

2 Building Your Brand

ENTITY Academy taught me the skills to survive and thrive in the workplace.

Our graphic design week course centered around building our personal and professional brands. It was a crash course on Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign that developed our digital skills. I found the portfolio incredibly helpful and loved having the opportunity to put together a showcase of all the work we’ve put in at ENTITY Academy.

From learning how to create memes to creating our personalized style guides, everything in our graphic design course was designed to make us more appealing applicants for future employers. ENTITY Academy strives to provide its students with real, marketable skills that we can apply in the workplace. This kind of first-hand experience is what drives the workforce today and was an invaluable immersive, hands-on opportunity.

Social media has taken the world by storm in many different aspects. And journalism, politics, advertising and so much more can no longer survive without proper social media implementation. At ENTITY Academy we learned how to navigate the social media space. And we also packaged headlines and articles to catch an audience’s attention.

We built the social media Facebook schedule for an entire week in small groups of 2-3 people. Creating quotes or celebrity cards for the ENTITY facebook and seeing them on the page both excited and motivated me. Our mentors reviewed and worked with us on how to develop headlines that will work well with ENTITY’s audience. It was a challenge to learn to create under ENTITY’s brand yet exciting to push ourselves like that.

ENTITY Academy provides its women with the tools to really succeed. We didn’t write fluff pieces for killing time, they were substantive materials to engage and empower. As an mentee of ENTITY Academy, I’m thrilled for the opportunity to take all that I have learned and make a difference out in the workforce.
