ENTITY explains why you should watch the Suits tv show.Photo via Instagram/@suits_usa

The “Suits” TV show is the perfect break from the world that will have you laughing just as much as you cry. They balance the dramedy genre in one of the best ways we’ve ever seen. Usually, shows have trouble transitioning from hilarity to heart-dropping dramatic moments, but “Suits” has the nuanced drama down to a science and it’s worth a watch.

If you don’t like sarcasm, punny jokes, sexual innuendos, watching relationship goals and experiencing the trials of crazy-smart people kick ass in court, then this isn’t the show for you. However, if any of these aspects intrigue you, then stop what you’re doing right now and start bingeing this show on Amazon Video.

And if you need a bit more persuading, here are all the reasons this show has reigned supreme over the dramedy genre.

The Amazing Characters

Most of these characters are amazing because they’re so identifiable. This has a lot to do with the “Suits” cast being incredible at their crafts. The characters’ personalities on this show either represent who we are or someone we know in real life. Whether it’s the suave, sweet talker that plows through life (Harvey Specter) or the know-it-all feminist who refuses to let anyone test her and get away with it (Donna Paulsen), you can find these personalities on “Suits.”

You’ve also got the annoying over-achiever that pretends to be your friend but is secretly jealous of everything you do (Louis Litt). Or, maybe you’re more like the sweet best friend who always looks out for everyone and would rather die than let you down (Rachel Zane).

Basically, because we can identify with these people, it makes us more invested in their stories.

The only person on the show that probably isn’t like anyone you know is Mike Ross. But this is really just because he’s a genius with a photographic memory. Usually, these types of people are government hackers or presidents of large corporations, not weed-dealing delivery men turned fraud lawyers.

The Genuine Storylines

Out of the six seasons, the “Suits” TV show hasn’t had one forced, ridiculous storyline to push a certain agenda. It’s common for shows that go for a long period of time to start creating plot holes and discontinuities to move a story forward. Not “Suits.”

It’s almost as if they created a 10-year plan for the “Suits” episodes and everything just falls into place as they go.

In seasons two and three, we got hints about Harvey’s mother issues, just to see that story actually come to fruition in the fifth season. That’s the type of story you’ll get while watching this show. Every episode is unique in the type of case they’re handling, but the characters’ stories develop seamlessly.

This makes it all the more satisfying when we see our favorite characters grow and develop into better people as their experiences and relationships shape who they are. If you’re the type of viewer that falls in love with characters and simply wants to experience life with them, then this is the show for you.

The Mental Chess

Any anime fans in the building? If so, “Suits” is the Code Geass or Death Note of law. If you aren’t an anime fan (which you honestly should be) “Suits” is also the Criminal Minds or Burn Notice of law.

This show revolves around power moves and thinking two steps ahead of their competitors to win a case or settle it before it gets that far. That doesn’t include the dilemma that acts as the unifying thread throughout the entire series: Mike’s fraudulent acts as a lawyer.

Jessica, Louis, Rachel, Donna and especially Harvey constantly go to great lengths to keep his secret. Sooner or later, shit hits the fan like it always does you’re stuck trying to figure out how they’ll get out of this mess.

If you enjoy thinking through the story as you’re watching, and you get a kick out of connecting things that might’ve been hinted at five episodes before, then this is definitely is the show for you.

The One-Liners

The one-liners have to be one of the best parts of this show. Each character has roles that inform the type of one-liners they’re known for.

Jessica Pearson’s one-liners are badass drags that put everyone in their respective places. Although Harvey Specter experiences the most growth throughout the season to become a better person, he’s the philosophical surrogate father for Mike Ross. So, his one liners tend to be deep, thought provoking quotes. Donna Paulsen has the confidence of a goddess. Because of this, her one liners are all about how amazing she is or about all the things she can do. Rachel Zane acts as the uncompromising heart of the series. And as a reflection of her character, her one liners are sweet, comforting and genuine. And as for Louis Litt, the hot-tempered child with a tentative heart of gold, his one-liners tend to be homosexual innuendos.

Okay. Louis’ one-liners don’t technically represent him because he’s not gay, but he tends to be relatively clueless compared to Jessica, Harvey and Mike. So the fact he says these incredibly sexual things and doesn’t realize their sexual implications is, in a way, a good depiction of his character.

To prove our point, we’ll leave you with some of our favorite one-liners from the last six seasons.
