One ENTITY writer addresses how friendship is a powerful form of building confidence.

If I am being honest, it is a pretty daunting task to try and sum up everything I learned at ENTITY Academy into just one article.

If ENTITY has taught me anything it is to be confident and try my hardest, breaking me out of my “shy girl” shell. So here are some of the important lessons I gathered from ENTITY Academy.

1. Learning To Embrace Failure

My main takeaway from this mentorship program is that it is okay to fail. While it may sound like weird advice to embrace failure, it is extremely freeing when you finally realize that rejection is a natural part of life.

Most of the speakers that visited ENTITY spoke about getting rejected numerous times before becoming successful. This includes Oscar winner Patricia Arquette, who spoke about getting rejected numerous times before her big break. Hearing about how much these influential individuals failed was genuinely inspiring.

Before ENTITY, I had a hard time with failure, but now I think it can be for the best. Thanks to ENTITY, I now know that taking an “L” truly strengthens personal growth.

I used to want to get everything perfect all of the time. Most of the time, this fear of imperfection would stop me from even starting a project. Gaining the ability to cope with failure has made me more self-assured and productive.

2. Trusting Your Gut

Another important lesson I learned from ENTITY Academy was the impact that siding with what your gut has. The power of leaning toward your instinct was something so ingrained in my experience.

Speakers like Colin Egglesfield and Ione Butler consistently talked about believing what your gut has to say. Growing up, I was told I was too emotional and sensitive and to think with my head.

I grew up always overthinking every decision because of it. While logic is significant in making decisions we too often ignore our gut feelings. Thus, leading us to get too stuck in our heads. Learning through ENTITY how to trust my gut was a huge part of me gaining self-esteem.

3. Confidence Building Through Friendship

Making friends has always been hard for me. This is because I never really open up and let my personality shine through until I feel comfortable around others.

But thanks to ENTITY Academy and the abundance of soft skills training we went through, I grew close to my fellow mentees right away. This allowed me to feel like more people would like me if I just spoke up and didn’t close myself off so often.

Through my strong bonds with other mentees, confidence-building activities have taught me to go for what I want. During our first week at ENTITY, I avoided asking our speakers questions. By our last week, though, I found my voice and found the courage to ask questions. The friendships I formed at ENTITY Academy were key to unlocking my potential, becoming less avoidant, and gaining confidence.

Overall, ENTITY has allowed me to grow in many ways. In just a few weeks, have become a more confident version of myself, so thank you ENTITY for all that you have done!
