ENTITY lists some of the ways ENTITY Academy Editorial Writing Internship improves resumes.

As we humans love to do, I doubted my decision to accept the ENTITY Academy Editorial Writing Internship before I began. I felt myself drowning in potential concerns. The biggest fears circling through my mind revolved around the haunting idea that I was potentially wasting time. However, on my first day at ENTITY, I was able to put these thoughts to rest. Seven weeks may seem like a relatively short period of time, but the pros here at ENTITY packed every second with valuable lessons.

The skills I acquired here will last a lifetime, and I have no doubt that spending my summer at the ENTITY Academy Editorial Writing Internship has jumpstarted my career. Here are just a few of the precious skills now plumping up my resume.

1 Learning SEO

It’s no surprise that in the SEO boot camp, we learned about SEO. Before this program, I had no idea what SEO was or why it was in any way significant. I didn’t even know what it stood for. Technology has intimidated me since the day my mother got a Razor cell phone and I knew the world would never be the same. I have avoided technology as often as possible, even forcing my brother to be responsible for any and all iTunes updates.

However, with the help of our awesome SEO instructor, Angelica Pronto, I have officially opened my heart to the computers of the world. SEO is fascinating, and learning about it has changed the way I view all information online. This incredibly valuable skill not only looks nifty on a resume, but it also assists with my ability to get my own content seen.

With SEO knowledge in my back pocket, I can now merrily skip into the technological era we are living in.

2 Getting Familiar With Adobe

Before coming to the ENTITY Academy Editorial Writing Internship, my experience with Adobe applications was limited to the digital media course I took in seventh grade. At that point in my life, my only real use for Adobe was to create flyers promoting the school’s musical on Photoshop. However, at ENTITY, I have learned how to navigate between several Adobe applications, including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and XD.

We spent two full weeks diving into the logistics of these tools. We had two in-house experts and two external pros teach us the basics and the not-so-basic features of Adobe. I became enthralled by the creative outlet these tools provided me. I even found myself working with the applications outside of work. The lessons at ENTITY made me eager to spend more time with my new Adobe pals.

3 Understanding Social Media

At the ENTITY Academy Editorial Writing Internship, we spent valuable time learning about the importance of being intentional in developing a brand. In many ways, this is a soft skill. However, the type of social media packaging required to brand yourself or a company successfully is undoubtedly a hard skill. One of the biggest takeaways I have from this program is that it doesn’t matter what you write or what you do if no one sees it. Thus, making yourself a credited and quality presence on social media is crucial.

We learned about the intricacies of packaging posts on Facebook in order to generate positive attention. We also delved into some of the best ways to portray oneself or a company on Instagram, dissecting some of the most important things to pay attention to when attempting to boost the amount of engagement your profile receives. Thus, we are now all individually prepared to enter any career in which managing social media is a key factor.

At the end of the day, I could not be more thankful for my time at ENTITY. I finally feel ready to enter the professional world, and I am more determined than ever to make my mark. Working in an environment with such empowered and inspiring women has allowed me to grow as a person. Equally as important, learning hard skills from the expert staff at ENTITY has allowed me to grow as an employee.

I am graduating this program as an all-around better woman, and I can’t wait to see how far I go.
