Entity reports on James Corden and his plans to host the Grammy Awards.

“Carpool Karaoke” star James Corden now really has something to sing about – he’s been picked to host the next Grammy Awards.

The CBS late night talk show host has become an increasingly influential figure in the music industry with this celebrity singalong skits handing a big boost to record sales and reaching nearly 2 billion YouTube views to date, according to Billboard.

Now he’s getting to host music’s biggest night – succeeding five-time host LL Cool J to front the 59th Annual Grammy Awards next February.

Corden is rapidly becoming an award show regular, having hosted Broadway’s Tony Awards this year.

“We look forward to bringing James’ exceptional showmanship, infectious energy and his undeniable kinship with music to the Grammy stage,” said Jack Sussman, executive vice president of CBS Entertainment.

“Carpool Karaoke” has driven big sales for the stars who have taken part. The episode featuring First Lady Michelle Obama and Missy Elliot led to an increase in popularity for tracks from Elliot, for example, according Nielsen Insights. The week the segment aired, fans streamed Elliot’s “Get Ur Freak On” nearly half a million times on demand, a 22.7 percent increase from the week prior.

Artists’ social media followings also experience a surge due to “Carpool Karaoke.” Forbes reports that Missy Elliot’s new Facebook page likes increased by 1300 percent and Instagram followers rose 187 percent.

1 Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga was the most recent superstar to ride shotgun with Corden. In this episode, the “Joanne” singer belts some of her new tracks. Aired within the same week of the album’s release, the episode was an effective and timely way to help “Joanne” land the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 albums chart, selling 201,000 units.

2 Britney Spears

August was “the beginning of a new era” for pop veteran Britney Spears. She joined Corden to sing some of her greatest hits, including “Oops! … I Did it Again,” while promoting her new material. By pairing the viral “Carpool Karaoke” episode with her “Glory” release, she made herself the talk of social media that week.

To prep for his hosting duties at the 2016 Tony Awards, James Corden invited some of the biggest names in Broadway to join him singing show tunes. Adele’s “Carpool Karaoke” segment is the most successful of the series to date, garnering over 134 million views. While fans praised The Queen of Hearts for her sense of humor and great personality, it was her impressive “Monster” cover that broke the Internet and led to big sales numbers, says Forbes.
