Why you should care what's in your beauty products.
Cruelty-Free has been a hop topic word floating around these days, but what exactly does it mean in our makeup products?
Cruelty-free is simply an animal rights movement. It is the labeling of products or activities that do not harm or kill animals anywhere on the planet. Cruelty-free makeup does not test on animals.
This generation has notably started to take notice of big brands and corporations in their efforts (or lack-thereof) to label their products and/or services as “cruelty-free”.
And rightfully so.
This trend has started to take the necessary steps to preserve our planet and has become a popular opinion among millennials.

From my experience with makeup, getting all the things that you want in a beauty product is close to impossible.
Therefore, as much as we care about the environment, animals, and our planet, we often end up choosing an awesome, moderately affordable, product or brand that isn’t cruelty free or sustainable.
Every once in a while we may find a product or brand that we want to give a try because it does have the cute pink bunny sticker (which stands for cruelty-free F.Y.I).
The product is vegan and has all these wonderful perks that make your skin feel hydrated and protected. However, this product usually it ends up being above your price point.
Because of this, we’re reluctant to spend the money to find out if the product is worth it.
Or even worse, maybe we can afford to try this more environmentally friendly product, and maybe it would be a better alternative, but we just can’t let our favorite brand or product go.
I mean, c’mon, you didn’t actually ask your favorite brand to test on animals, right? So why should you have to bear the burden of their non-cruelty-free choices?
And the cycle continues.
Trust me, that was me. So don’t be ashamed. But as a wise person once told me:
“If You Know Better, You’ll Do Better”
Therefore, I had to admit that I definitely knew better (and so do you after reading this article). Here is my takeaway from ending the vicious unconscious cycle, and giving cruelty-free a try!
