When Donald Trump won the presidency in a shocking upset against Hillary Clinton, many #WomenThatDo wanted to turned off the news and escape from the real world. If you’re feeling a bit hopeless about this year’s results, why not indulge in some self-care and streaming?
Here is ENTITY‘s list of five binge-worthy TV shows – all featuring strong female leads – to help you forget about this year’s election season.
This classic favorite feels like a hug in a matching Old Navy hat and scarf combo on the first day of fall. Find comfort in Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and Rory (Alexis Bledel) Gilmore’s witty banter and best friend/mother-daughter relationship, as well as all the quirky characters in the charming small-town of Stars Hallow. (Hey, at least real-world Connecticut voted for Hillary.)

While we can’t catch the next installment until November 25, reminisce with your favorite seasons on Netflix. While definitely more serious, “Good Girls Revolt” from Amazon Prime reminds women of our past and how much we have achieved since then. We may not have broken the glass ceiling this year but these newsroom events in 1969 remind us of our power as women when we stand together.

Aside from the serious undertones, fierce and funny Patti Robinson (Genevieve Angelson) keeps our spirits high. Her ’70s-eque fashion style slays – even though it’s no Hillary pantsuit.
In BBC America’s “Orphan Black,” lead actress Tatiana Maslany plays several different characters. Although these women are clones, they are still dynamic and diverse individuals with various personalities, backgrounds and lifestyles. Maslany’s characters also reaffirm where women belong in the world – everywhere.
Maslany is making serious waves for women in the entertainment world with her impressive collection of awards. Maybe we can follow this Canadian actress back to her home country?

In an industry previously dominated by men, women are gaining voice in the comic book genre. While we have to wait until 2017 for Wonder Woman to grace the screen, the Woman of Steel shows us that women aren’t just regulated to the roles of princesses and housewives.

Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist) plays Superman’s cousin – equally feminine, energized and badass. The action-filled episodes will surely distract you from our current political situation. While sometimes cheesy, “Supergirl” reminds us that good always trumps evil.
Gladiators unite to rewatch the drama-filled series starring Kerry Washington. We can look to her character’s leadership and appreciate her role as the fixer. She shows us that women can be outspoken and respectful – using strategy and power to get what she wants.
