Calories in beer: 99
Alcohol percentage : 3.2
12-pack price : $17.99

What the online reviews say:

“Let’s face it, this isn’t some high-end beer. This is what you drink on hot days at the pool or [while] barbecuing in the backyard. This beer isn’t made to win tastes awards, [but] it still tastes pretty good. [It also] has a good lager flavor without any frills. Very refreshing.”

Fun fact: Corona Light is 49 calories less than regular Corona, but it’s also 1.4 percent less alcohol. Either way, you should pair this beer with a slice of lime.

Calories in beer: 102
Alcohol percentage: 4.2

“The drink of choice for men in [their] 50s. Every 50 year old man I know only drinks Coors Light and will hear nothing about how bad it is.”

Fun fact: The Coors Light slogan is, “When the mountains turn blue, it’s as cold as the Rockies.” The beer is brewed in Colorado.

3 Bud Light

Calories in beer: 110
Alcohol percentage : 4.2
12-pack price : $12.99

What the online reviews say:

“I have always kind of liked Bud Light because it tastes like those flavorless rice cakes my mom used to pack in my lunch. I will say it is extremely consistent and I always know what I’m getting whenever I have it. Besides those redeeming qualities, this beer is horrible compared to everything else on the market and is probably not even a top 5 AAL.”

Fun fact: As their slogan says, Bud Light considers themselves as “the world’s favorite light beer.”

4 Miller High Life

Calories in beer: 110
Alcohol percentage: 4.2
12-pack price : $10.99

What the online reviews say:

“I’m just going to be honest here. It’s cheap, but it doesn’t taste quite as cheap as it actually is. If I’m having a few beers in the evening, I drink one of these between more expensive, better quality brews or home brews. Makes the ‘good brews’ last longer. Hell, most of us can’t afford filet mignon every day.”

Fun fact: This beer is brewed in Miller Valley in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

5 Guinness

Calories in beer: 126
Alcohol percentage: 4.0
12-pack price: $17.99

What the online reviews say:

“While not a craft beer or unique [tasting] as many other beers, it should be the favorite for all beer drinkers. If I was stuck on an island and could only drink one beer for the rest of my life (not that I want this to happen), it would be Guinness. This is a great beer to introduce to your friends who are not diverse in their styles of beer.”

Fun fact: Draught Guinness uses Nitrogen so the beer won’t be fizzy.

6 Dos Equis

Calories in beer: 141
Alcohol percentage: 4.8
12-pack price: $16.99

What the online reviews say:

“I get a 20 oz draft every time I find myself in a Mexican restaurant. In my mind, it’s the compliment to any ‘south of the border’ dish. [It’s] the right amount of alcohol for an evening meal.”

Fun fact: The Dos Equis brand increased in popularity due to their campaign with “the most interesting man in the world,” which was long portrayed by actor Jonathan Goldsmith.

7 Heineken

Calories in beer: 148
Alcohol percentage: 5.0
12-pack price: $17.99

What the online reviews say:

“[Heineken is the] hot summer day go-to beer after yard work or during Impromptu BBQ. Drink this one ice cold, do not let it warm up the as the smell intensifies and become[s] unpleasant. Really does not pair well with any food. Empty mouth feel. I will pick these up to keep in fridge for guest[s] who do not appreciate craft beers.”

Fun fact: Heineken is a Dutch brewing company. This beer is easily recognized by its green bottle and signature red star.

8 Blue Moon (Belgian White)

Calories in beer: 164
Alcohol percentage: 5.4
12-pack price: $17.99

What the online reviews say:

“Blue moon is a beer with a smell not too overpowering and a creamy taste. There is a touch of orange in it which adds a slight fruity touch to this Belgian beer. It is smooth and goes down easily. [It’s] an easy beer that is enjoyable and has a good depth of flavor with medium body.”

Fun fact: Add a slice of orange to this beer to get the full effect. It will bring out the orange hints in the beer.

9 Samuel Adams (Boston)

Calories in beer: 180
Alcohol percentage: 4.9
12-pack price: $17.99

What the online reviews say:

“This is my favorite ‘basic’ beer. It’s usually always available wherever I go, so I know I can get it ahead of time. It’s a pretty good beer that’s not extremely light, but also not heavy. It’s good for most situations and gets the job done!”

Fun fact: This beer is named after the revolutionary leader Samuel Adams, and it’s super ironic because the patriot actually failed as a brewer in the 1700s.

10 Stone IPA (India Pale Ale)

Calories in beer: 204
Alcohol percentage: 6.9
12-pack price: $20.99

What the online reviews say:

“The jazz standard. The repertoire classic. The song you want to hear at the concert – [the one] you patiently wait for. A beat-up Ford that keeps running. A pair of worn-in jeans, now & forevermore. It goes. You chug it. It disappears. You need more.”

Fun fact: Stone Brewing was founded in 1996 in San Marcos, California.

Now you’re on your way to being a beer expert. Grab your favorites and share a cold one with your friends.
