Entity reports on Galentine's Day and how you should celebrate it with your girls.

Galentine’s Day is for the ladies! Sorry, no boys allowed.

It’s a day for you to celebrate your gals and your friendship. You already know that being around them is a lot of fun, so why not make it a yearly tradition?

After all, we make it a point to celebrate our guys every year. So it’s about time we celebrate our gals. Besides, these are the girls who are there for you through the good and the bad and the hilarious karaoke sessions in your car.

What is Galentine’s Day?

The idea was taken from Leslie Knope’s character (played by comedian Amy Poehler) on the show “Parks and Recreation,” and she celebrated Galentine’s with her favorite gals. It became her yearly tradition to take her friends out to have brunch and waffles and celebrate their friendship.

Leslie‘s idea behind Galentine’s day was to celebrate the badass women that we are. She says, “Though the real point of it all is simply to celebrate the platonic love that exists among lady friends.” After all, who doesn’t like a day or night off designated to hang out with the good ole gal pals of yours?

Thanks to the show, Galentine’s Day is here to stay (as I keep trying to convince spell check that Galentine’s is a word). Anyway, so you may be asking when do you celebrate Galentine’s Day?

It is celebrated on February 13, the day before your hot date. The point is to make time for your friends and have FUN!

In the show, keep in mind that Leslie hosted a brunch and made gifts for all of her girls. Making gifts for each one of your friends is a super sweet gesture — albeit time-consuming — but we’re totally down for some quality time however you want to spend it.

Here are a few ideas to help celebrate your next Galentine’s Day.

1 Wine and Dine

Whether its checking out a new restaurant or going back to your favorite restaurant, go out, get dolled up and enjoy the company.

We suggest, ditch the diets and let loose on your favorite comfort food over a bottle or two of wine.

2 Girls’ Night out Dancing

A little GNO (girls’ night out) never hurt anyone.

If your friends are less uptight and don’t mind getting a little saucy, head over to your favorite local bar for some drinks and a little dancing.

I think it’s always a great nostalgic feeling when a good throwback song comes on, and you all just let loose and sing along to every lyric.

3 Spa Day

Delicious food and a little dancing all sounds great, but let’s agree that a good spa day is the cure for all evil. And what better way to bond with your best friends than relaxing at the spa?

A spa day with your girls will have you recharged and feeling great in no time!

4 Brunch

So this last idea to celebrate Galentine’s Day with your favorite girls is brunchin’.

Who doesn’t love brunch? After all, Leslie Knope agrees that indulging in waffles is the best way to get the party started, and who can forget the mimosas? Yes, please!

This is your time to dress up for a nice, early afternoon fiasco and again, enjoy celebrating your friends.

Like Leslie Knope said, “It’s only the best day of the year.”

After all, it’s our gals that help us get through some of the toughest times in our lives, and we owe it to them for holding us down and being there when we need them.
