Drinks to help you ease in or out of a healthy cleanse.
Being healthy could be easier. Much easier.
Anyone who’s done a detox or any other healthy cleanse for more than a day knows that it’s difficult to keep up with. At times, you might feel hungry, tired, or a bit snippy. However, you want to be healthier before a vacation or feel refreshed in general, so you power through it anyway.
And then you’re good, right? However, dietitians will tell you that one of the hardest parts of a detox is coming off of it. The stark change from an often all-liquid diet to eating whatever unhealthy food you were eating prior to the detox can throw off your body’s eating cycle and do more harm than good.
Thankfully, that doesn’t have to be the case. If you’re transitioning into or out of a total detox, incorporating some of those drinks in place of or alongside meals may make the process easier. In addition to their nutritious ingredients, I’ve given them funny little names, so you can laugh while you scarf them down.
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups water (375 ml)
1 cup chopped pineapple (250 g)
1 cucumber
1 lemon
12 dates
Ingredients:
2 cups frozen mixed berries
1 medium banana
1 large apple, cored
juice of 1 lemon
3-4 inch chunk cucumber
½ cup Italian flat leaf parsley
1 cup kale
1 tablespoon chia seeds
1 cup Silk Unsweetened Almondmilk
1 cup water, more if needed
Ingredients:
1 kiwi
1 banana
¼ cup pineapple
2 celery stalks
2 cups spinach
1 cup water
1 Hot and Spicy, Just Like You
Ingredients:
1 glass of warm or hot water (12–16 ounces)
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
2 tablespoons lemon juice
½–1 teaspoon ground ginger
¼ teaspoon cinnamon
1 dash cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon raw, local honey
Ingredients:
1 cup warm water
1/2 lemon, juiced (1-2 tablespoons fresh juice)
1 tablespoon organic unfiltered apple cider vinegar (the kind with “mother”)
1 tablespoon pure maple syrup (or honey)
1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 pinch cayenne pepper
Ingredients:
Take some ginger tea powder and mix with water to make ginger tea. It’s a pretty good drink for a healthy cleanse by itself.
