Entity breaks down things that only moms with twins will understand.

Are they twins? Which one is older? Are they identical? Double the trouble, am I right? Are they natural or did you use in vitro? Do twins run in your family? You probably have your hands full, don’t you? Did you have them natural or cesarean section?

Mothers of twins hear these pervasive questions on a daily basis. As a mom of twins, you deal with a mixture of pleasant and annoying comments. Yet these remarks are the least of your worries. You have other things to do – like figuring out which child to chase after first.

Here are seven things that only a mom with twins would understand.

1 You have to buy two of everything.

Although twins share toys and clothes, you still have to buy two of the same things. Mercedes – a mom whose twins are out of the house now – told ENTITY, “When one had something, the other one wanted one, too. So I had to make sure I was always fair.”

2 You have to treat them as individuals.

This may be common for any mom with multiple children, but you have to balance between treating your twins the same, while recognizing that they have their own identities and that they want to be treated as different people.

3 You don’t feel sorry for mothers with one baby.

When you overhear moms that have one child complain about how tired they are, you are unable to sympathize. If anything, you can’t help thinking, “You have no idea what the hell you’re talking about.”

4 When they’re toddlers, your life gets a little bit easier.

Your life was absolutely insane when your twins were babies. When they get a little bit older, you have the joy of watching them play together and entertain each other.

5 You experience everything twice!

All the joys that come with one baby, you get to experience twice. As Devon, a mom of identical twins says, “All the experiences are the same; they’re just doubled. And double exciting. Like when your baby walks for the first time, it’s doubling exciting because it’s two babies instead of one!”

6 You’re instantly famous.

Moms with one child might get a comment like “Oh! What a cute baby!” here and there, but you … you get a lot of attention. Everyone wants to know your experience, so they’ll ask questions like, “How do you tell them apart” and “How do you do it?”

7 You’ll have to stay constantly alert.

Although your twins play together, for some reason, they always run in opposite directions.  As a superwoman and supermom, you have to make a snap decision: “Which child should I run after first?”

Although your life is so much harder with twins, you also know it’s that much better. You get to experience all the same tears, laughs and love that one baby can bring, but you’re lucky enough to have double experience.
